RAMSES DE TEILEE looks to have been missed by the morning markets here at a double-figure price. His record fresh is a glittering one with form figures of 511253413, and his latest effort off the back of a break came in Auteuil in a French Grade 1.
He saw out the remainder of last season over fences but had achieved a handicap rating of 147 after just 12 starts over hurdles. His last four hurdle starts have seen him run in Grade 1 company twice, and two land Grade 2 wins.
On the evidence of his two wins in graded company, this handicap mark is not beyond him, and he only had one other front runner to contend with in this field. This is not a strong Class 2 with very few, if any, looking well handicapped. He looks very hard to kick out of the frame and may be able to exploit some of his rivals fitness levels.

DESERT DOCTOR (2.55 Goodwood, 1pt each-way 12/1)
A chance is taken with DESERT DOCTOR, who is drawn better than most of those at the top of the market and is relatively lightly race in the UK over 6f on turf, and the booking of Tom Marquand catches the eye with form figures together reading 21.
This looks like the time of year to catch him, and his recent efforts suggest a return to form may be imminent. His form figures entering October/November read 1411, and he is well handicapped on previous exploits, so a chance is taken.

LOUGANINI (4.40 Goodwood, 1pt win 5/1)
Champagne Piaff surely has more to offer on the evidence of his win for this column at Epsom, but LOUGANINI has been missed by the market and has optimal conditions to put his best foot forward.
He was a non-stayer when last seen at York in July over 1m6f, and the return to soft ground and this trip both look big positives. His win at Ascot off a 7lbs lower handicap mark in May has worked out well and his sole other start on soft ground in the last 12 months was an eye-catching second in the Rowley Cup.
He is very lightly raced, and there could be more to come from him yet on this just his third start over 1m4f, and he can take his record to 4/5 on soft ground.

NEWTON JACK (5.15 Goodwood, 0.5pts each-way 18/1)
NEWTON JACK is drawn well to gain a prominent position in this field, and it always pays to have an inside berth at Goodwood especially given 7 of the last 10 winners have come from stalls 9 or below.
The four-year-old has ideal conditions today, and he was progressive before a below-par run at Chester last time. His short-head defeat to Bowland Park sees that one now 9lbs higher in the handicap and his Newbury defeat to Sunset Bay sees that one 17lbs higher while the selection is only 3lbs and 6lbs higher.
This easy 1m on soft ground looks spot on, and a chance is taken on him continuing his progression on just his second attempt at the trip.

SEMSER (5.15 Goodwood, 0.5pts each-way 33/1)
SEMSER is the outsider of the field here but is drawn in stall 1, and he has some rock-solid form when he was with Roger Varian that makes him look ridiculously well-handicapped off this mark of 80.
He was in desperate need of the run on first start for Gary Moore at Sandown, and he caught the eye when denied a clear run at the same venue next time. This softer surface could see him to best effect, and the strong likely pace on offer will suit him well. He certainly looks worth chancing at the prices.
