MEGALLAN – (4.05 Salisbury, 1pt win – 3/1)
Most of these are exposed, but that’s not the case with John Gosden’s three-year-old MEGALLAN, for who the return to good ground is a big positive and his second in the Dante to subsequent Derby third and dual Group 1 winner Hurricane Lane is fresh in the memory.
He has been freshened up since his French Derby flop and takes on mainly exposed rivals here who are not improving. John Gosden is 1/3 in this race with his sole winner, a three-year-old which bodes well for Megallan, and he can make it 2/2.

HORSEFLY – (4.40 Salisbury, 1pt win – 9/1)
Timeless Soul looked a next time out winner at Goodwood, but the handicapper hasn’t missed her best efforts have come on soft ground, so a chance is taken on HORSEFLY. She was a big eye-catcher at Kempton last time after having to wait for room, and she gives the impression that she could be better than this mark of 83. The return to a quicker surface is a big positive, and three-year-olds have an excellent record in this race.
She is unexposed at this trip also and has shaped like a real test would suit her, so with Laura Pearson claiming three pounds, she has to be of interest. In handicap terms, She did the best of those from the rear of the field at Windsor behind the 95 rated runner-up Invite and 100 rated winner Save A Forest in reciept of just 5lbs and 7lbs, and had to make some effort to come from her racing position.
She has then scored at Lingfield before going onto the all-weather and giving 9lbs to a 75 rated horse and caught they eye at Kempton with another improved effort and effectively off 80 here she has to be in the mix.

ENCOURAGE – (5.10 Salisbury, 1pt win – 3/1)
ENCOURAGE left the impression that he was in desperate need of this trip last time at Nottingham when seemingly finishing with running left and hitting the line very hard. He is on the upgrade, and this is much easier than the last two contest he has been in, and the handicapper has given him a chance off the same mark of 83 here.
Zuraig looked like a non-stayer here on his penultimate start, so is passed over this time but worth keeping on side. Zikany lacks pace and may want 1m6f already, so will be vulnerable to a turn of foot.
