SCOTTISH SUMMIT – (3.20 Redcar, 2pts win – 4/1)
Three-year-olds only get 6lbs here, and the two in the field, including the short-priced favourite, lack progression and are suspect stayers. That’s not the case for SCOTTISH SUMMIT, who has danced most dances this season and is used to carrying big weights.
He is the class act in the field and extremely consistent, but a return to this Redcar venue for which he has scored at twice previously in better races than this means he is impossible to ignore. He still has mileage in his mark of 95, and connections have found an excellent opening, so he gets a confident vote to land the spoils.

NOT ON YOUR NELLIE– (3.50 Redcar, 1pt win – 9/2)
NOT ON YOUR NELLIE had excuses for a poor run at Newcastle last time, given she has failed to take to the AW surface (the third time she has been below par), but her previous efforts suggest she was on an upward curve.
The return to this venue for which she was a big eye-catcher in a hot race for the grade looks to be positive, and this mark of 75 based on her Haydock run on her penultimate start looks well within reach.

FORTZA ORTA – (4.20 Redcar, 1pt win – 7/4)
It’s a small but competitive field, and it’s hard to think that FORTZA ORTA has not been let in lightly by the handicapper off this opening handicap mark of 76 after bumping into three useful horses. He has improved with each run, and there is a good chance now handicapping he has more to offer in receiving weight from both his rivals.
Should he get the job done here, he will give us a good form line into a couple of horses that look well treated, including Zagato. The form of his latest run was given an emphatic boost when the winner went in again by nine widening lengths, so a chance is taken he can overturn Bashosh, who won’t want a muddling affair.

MASHHOOR – (7.02 Sandown, 1pt win – 10/3)
This looks like a good opportunity for the progressive MASHHOOR to get his head in front after three good efforts this term. His latest at Newmarket came in a hot race when doing best of those from the rear of the field behind course specialist and the well-handicapped Data Protection.
The form of that race has worked out well, with the runner-up going close in two hot handicaps next time, and the fourth is since a winner. He is entitled to improve for the experience in a race of that nature, and the presence of Jim Crowley is a big positive in this weaker race, so he is worth keeping faith with progression surely on the cards.
