DEMOPOLIS looks extremely tough to oppose here after an excellent second at Market Rasen on seasonal return behind a rapid improver and is entitled to build on that performance now race fit. The six-year-old has come on leaps and bounds since the fitting of the tongue-tie at Exeter last year and recorded back to back victories at Ludlow but found a third run in two weeks beyond him as he tired in the closing stages on his final run last term. He shaped as though he is still well ahead of the handicapper earlier this month and he is only 1lb higher here so gets the vote to get back to winning ways in a weak event.

The rapidly progressive SEXY LOT is still some way ahead of the handicapper on the time figures I have recorded off this mark of 107 and there is no reason to suggest the four-year-old will be undone in this field. Fergus Gillard is excellent value for his 3lb claim and David Pipe has his team in excellent form at present so gets the vote to rack up the hatrick of wins at the expense of Wilde Spirit.

At surprisingly double figure odds, price dictates that POUR UNE RAISON should be offered some support in the market after his runaway victory over course and distance last time out. That form has worked out well for the grade with the second and third filling the same spots behind a progressive one in a very good time figure at Taunton next time. An 8lb rise for the five-year-olds victory on that basis looks lenient given he had plenty in hand at the finish and that was only his second start in Handicap Company. His unexposed profile suggest he could have more to come and with the main bulk in the field having been behind last time he offers excellent value at the prices.
