MACHO MOVER – (12.30 Haydock, 1pt win – 11/4)
MACHO MOVER had plenty in hand when getting on top over course and distance earlier this month, and a 4lb rise doesn’t look enough to stop him scoring again. He races off the bridle, so don’t be surprised to see him trade high in-running, but he has stamina in abundance and given the way he has finished out his last two races, it’s not going to be easy for the handicapper to get a handle on him.
This testing ground should play to his strengths, and this trip is a source of improvement, so he gets the vote over Charm Offensive.

COOLONEY – (2.40 Haydock, 1pt each-way – 10/1)
COOLONEY is a horse with some talent but catching him on a going day is not easy. It may be the case that he is a better horse when fresh, so a chance is taken on him in a field in which plenty have questions to answer on this return from 207 days off. He has dropped to his last winning hurdle mark and returns to the smaller obstacles after a failed chase campaign last season.
He could prove a different proposition now, and he is so lightly raced at double-figure odds he is worth chancing each way. The favourite Celebre D’Allen needs to prove he can produce the goods second time out after a 728-day break, and the bounce factor must concern his backers.
Chti Balko looks solid but is well found at the top of the market while Homme Public shouldn’t prove good enough off this mark, Rattle Owl wants good ground, the form of Mister Watson’s recent win is poor, and Rockadenn, Minella Charmer and Moon Over Germany have plenty to prove.

ONLY THE BOLD was a big eye-catcher here earlier this month, and the step up in trip looks well overdue for the six-year-old who could prove to be well treated on the balance of his form now over this new trip.
He was outpaced on the ground that was quick enough last time but stuck to the task well to finish sixth. He is very lightly raced, and this race sees very few well-handicapped outsides of the favourite – perhaps. He is worth chancing each way.
