TOKAY DOKEY was a big eye-catcher in a hot race at Chepstow after a long absence, and given that was his first start over fences and 984 days, he can be expected to improve a good deal for that run.
The handicapper has dropped him three pounds, and he now strangely sits four pounds below his hurdle rating. He won three of his five starts before his latest run but always looked like a chaser in the making, and his hurdle form is red hot. He is surely better than a 120 horse, and his latest run was full of promise until a blunder four-out saw him empty.
He was much better than the beaten margin of 34 lengths on that occasion. He is completely unexposed and must have a big shout on this second start in handicap company.

SLATE HOUSE – (2.40 Taunton, 1pt each-way – 12/1 bet365)
SLATE HOUSE was far better than the result suggests last time at Newbury in a Class 2 Hurdle when travelling like the winner throughout the contest only to seemingly fail to get the trip. He has always been a suspect stayer despite winning a grade 1 over three miles, but that race hasn’t worked out and it was on a sharp track at Kempton.
If you stop his latest run at three-out, he looks all over the winner and had me stupidly counting my cash at one point. Today’s drop back in trip on that evidence looks a good move, and the handicapper has dropped him five pounds for that run which allows him to sneak into this class 3 0-130.
This is the lowest class of race he has contested, and the return to a right-handed track could also suit for which his form figures, including his point to point win read 03111 – the 0 came in a handicap chase off 148 in which he finished lame. He was well supported before the off at Newbury, and it surely won’t be long before he gets his head back in front.

OSPREY CALL – (2:40pm Taunton, 1pt win – 6/1 bet365)
OSPREY CALL was another disappointment for us last time out when falling at the third last when still to play his hand on handicap debut, and the market confidence behind him should not be ignored.
He runs off the same handicap mark today, and he has every chance to put that right. He is unexposed and firmly on the upgrade, and with the sound surface likely to play to his strengths, he is one to keep on the right side of for the foreseeable future.
