There is a possibility that handicaps could be the target for PITEMPTON POWER being turned out 9 days after his latest career best effort at Carlisle but the market seems to have underestimated him anyway. The time figure of his run at Carlisle behind a potentially very useful horse in Dreams Of Home was very good for this grade and he caught the eye travelling with extreme purpose before a mistake at the final flight knocked the stuffing out of him. That was his hurdle debut and he is entitled to improve for that and should certainly be making the frame in this contest.

PERFECT MAN looks over-priced in this race and those at the head of the market have plenty of questions to answer so he is worth forgiving a below par run at Exeter. His run at this course previous to that on first start for this yard was full of promise and he is 3lb lower today. The ten-year-old is a previous course and distance winner and has run well on all three visits here and this race is weaker than the one he was 4th in last month so gets the vote/

Chinwag deserves plenty of respect but SAMS GUNNER ran his best race for some time at Wetherby on Boxing Day and although another short break is not ideal he does offer plenty of value against the short-priced favourite. He has fallen to a very attractive handicap mark and the addition of the tongue-tie for the first time could make all the difference to how he finishes’s out his races. The rest of this field looks weak and it would be no surprise if this were to be fought out between the two.
