And The New is a horse that I have backed the last twice only for him to be pulled out under theses conditions so as luck would have it, he will probably run and pop up today but with the ground an unknown, STORMY FLIGHT gets the vote. The unexposed seven-year-old has been in excellent form in defeat at Exeter and Taunton on his last two starts and has bumped into two very well handicapped horses in Mount Windsor and Bear Gylls. The time figures of those two races have been very strong for the grade and the handicapper has given him a chance by leaving him on the same mark of 123. This step up in trip today will certainly suit as he has done his best work at the finish and a return to testing conditions will play to his strengths and put emphasis on stamina. He is 1/1 on heavy ground and has been in excellent form in defeat in all three handicap career starts and this long home straight at Wincanton can see him grind out victory.

Connections have been desperate to get SEXY LOT back out on the track and its no surprise given her Hereford conqueror is now 8lbss higher in the handicap (jumper bumper winner since) and the fourth from that race has chased home a well handicapped rival to place second next time out. Her performance deserved an upgrade given she ran on the inside rail on the worst of the ground and raced in an unpromising position only to fail on the line. Her time figures of that trace suggests she is still ahead of the handicapper off this 6lb higher mark and David Pipe looks to have found a good opening for his mare at a course she was a ready winner at in November.

Shanty Alley and Seaston Spirit are feared but both have something to prove now off 13lb and 4lb higher handicap marks which puts them both on a career high rating so BALLYCROSS is fancied to step forward. He was competing off of marks in the 130’s two years go and is now 5lb lower than his last chase victory and should come on for his reappearance fifth at Exeter last month. That was his first start for new handler Nicky Henderson and the inexperienced 7lb claimer is switched out for Nico de Boinville. He caught the eye staying on strongly despite making a bad blunder at the third last and did the best of those from a hold-up position so a chance is taken in a wide open event.
