This looks a weak race so despite the marked drop in trip for SANDYMOUNT ROSE this looks an excellent opportunity to get off the mark at the sixth time of asking. Neil Mulholland’s mare has finished runner-up in all five of her hurdle starts but she has proven to handle a variety of trips and the heavy ground at Ffos Las will turn this 2m into a stamina contest. She looks rock solid in a much weaker race than she has been used to contesting and most of her rivals have something to prove but any market moves for Crackle Lyn Rosie after a 323 day-break would be interesting.

Doux Pretender – (1.58 Ffos Las, 0.5pts each-way – 18/1)
Three of these met under very similar conditions last December with Sirop De Menthe coming out on top of Mere Anarchy and Thor De Cerisy but all were well beaten by the winner and it may just take some thinking outside of the box to land this race. It takes a leap of faith to back DOUX PRETENDER but the drop to 2m and the heavy ground may just be the ticket to final get him to tick off this much reduced handicap mark. He has only been with his new yard for two runs (both came in France) and he returns to these shores now 12lbs lower than his final start in the UK after he finished second in a Selling Hurdle behind a subsequent winner. He has looked outpaced on quicker ground but has failed to see out longer trips on the same surface. This race has plenty of pace on with Howling Milan and Let The Heirs Walk forcing the issue and it will likely set up nicely for one held up with a late run so a chance is taken.
