DIG TWO – (2.25 Newmarket – 1pt each-way – 9/1)
A competitive race, but the drop back to 5f at Royal Ascot was against DIG TWO, and the step back up to six looks a good move by connections. He boasts a win on the Rowley Mile earlier this year and is a well-balanced two-year-old who should handle this July course no problem at all.
That is a big positive for a youngster here, and his fast-finishing effort in the Windsor Castle suggests there is more to come. Three winners of this race have come from the Windsor Castle in the last ten years, so despite it not being one of the hottest two-year-old Royal Ascot races, it bodes well here.

POP MASTER – (3.00 Newmarket, 1pt each-way – 9/1)
The heavy ground undid POP MASTER at the Royal meeting, and he figures here on a very handy mark of 88 (2lbs lower) on the balance of his form. He was only beaten three lengths at Ascot, and the step back up to 6f looks a very smart move given his finishing effort.
He is entitled to improve, and his Lingfield run behind Rohaan looks a solid piece of form to suggest he is well handicapped. The track would be the only concern, but he can’t go unbacked off this handicap mark.

BLIND BEGGAR – (3:00pm Newmarket, 1pt each-way – 14/1)
There are a few that make appeal in this race but it may pay to take a chance on one that didn’t run at Royal Ascot and have a hard race given none of the last ten winners have come from that meeting but five of the last ten had previously run at York. BLIND BEGGAR very much fits that bill after catching the eye finishing on the bridle in what looked a good race before hand on paper.
He was denied a run on a couple of occasions and finished with plenty of running left. He bolted up by nine lengths in a Maiden priopr to that and chased home a potentially smart runner of Joseph O’Briens at Ripon when doing best of those on the far side of the track. That winner is now rated 106, and the pair pulled 10 lengths clear of the "weak field" but the fourth and fifth both won next time.
He has some good form as a two-year-old notably behind Atalis Bay (103) when beaten 1/2 a length after stumbling out the stalls. He is improving with each start and is unexposed over this 6f trip so could have more to offer.

DERAB – (4.10 Newmarket, 1pt win – 4/1)
Based has looked well above average in two starts, but this is a different test now, so a chance is taken on DERAB, who himself has looked well above average. He ran with credit in France when beaten six lengths by St Marks Basilica over 10f in the French Derby, but the ground, draw and possibly trip were all against him that day, and he got no run on the home turn.
Prior to that run, he was devastating on the Rowley Mile when easily blitzing his rivals in a good time figure. He also chased home the very smart Snow Lantern at Newbury under an easy hand and heels ride. He looks top class and will appreciate the return to this track with his short sharp stride.

MAXINE – (5.25 Epsom, 1pt win – 11/4)
MAXINE looks ahead of the handicapper still and was given too much to do at Lingfield last time but made up considerable ground on the winner to confirm. Any rain due will only enhance her chances, and she is still unexposed on the turf after just three starts this term. She has untapped potential, and this looks like a very good opportunity to get her head back in front.
