TIDE TIME – (2.10 Market Rasen, 1pt win – 9/1)
Starsky is probably the most solid option, with the new headgear looking a good move by the Skelton’s, but it may be worth taking a chance on chase debutant TIDE TIMES. The selection has a winning point to point win under his belt, and he caught the eye at Cheltenham on return doing well from the rear of the field when it paid to be on the pace.
He is entitled to improve for that outing, and some of his Novice and handicap form from last season – notably the right-handed win at Ascot off of 1lb higher than today – make him look well-treated.
This is a drop into a class 4 race, and this is not a deep contest to make your chase debut. We were on Present Chief last time, but his form right-handed now looks suspect, and he may be worth catching when going back the other way around when underestimated by the market. Tide Times might find this ground too quick, but he is handicapped to go well, so he edges the vote.
