HARDY DU SEUIL – (1.52 Market Rasen, 2pts win – 11/4 bet365)
HARDY DU SEUIL’S unexposed profile is far too attractive to ignore here up against his elders, and the weight-for-age 9lb he receives swings things into his favour considerably from my standpoint.
He warmed to the task at Carlisle making significant errors on his was around in the early part of the race before jumping more fluently once the pace increased. He has a big engine, and his jumping is likely to improve for that experience, and the time figure married up well with the 119 handicap winner on the card.
He needs to improve again to win this, but Sam Barton had little excuse on his chase debut at Ascot, for all he could improve for experience and fitness, but he lacked pace on that occasion. Orrisdale would have won last time but for a fall at the final flight, but this is deeper, and the quicker ground is not ideal.
The Edgar Wallace could improve for going chasing given his size, but he might need this first time out, and Torigni has yet to convince that he wants this far so plenty of questions surround his rivals.

THAHAB IFRAJ – (2.15 Wincanton, 1pt win – 8/1)
Yes, I did say that mine and THAHAB IFRAJ’S relationship was over after his Kempton performance, but I have to give him one last chance back here at Wincanton, where he has run three good races, including a course win and a repeat of that effort would see him go close here.
Fergus Gillard takes over in the saddle, and the pair boast form figures of 1123 together. He is the outsider of the trio here, but Royal Pretender has run-up to a mark of 120 the last twice on a time figure basis and has failed to improve in seven starts picking up a Maiden and a Novice event at 2/9f. He should find this tougher and his odds on price tag at the time of writing is a joke.
Time To Tinker should be favourite for this and is entitled to improve on his winning seasonal return, for which the runner-up boosted the form, but this handicap debut off this opening mark of 128 is no gift.
He is the most likely winner, but at the 11/10 on offer, I can say no thanks. The selection is at least on a workable handicap mark, and if he is going to win off of this 113 (2lbs out the weights, but Fergus claims 3), then it’s going to be here at Wincanton.

AMARILLO SKY – (3.15 Wincanton, 2pts win – 5/2 Will Hils) (NAP)
Thyme White could be a huge player on chase debut on the balance of his form over hurdles last season, and Golden Taipan is respected, but AMARILLO SKY put in a good shift at Chepstow last time on chase debut in a furiously run race and showed he could jump at speed and under pressure.
That’s a good attribute to have, especially when facing a favourite in Golden Taipan who is vulnerable to a mistake. He is yet to live up to his big price tag, but that was a step in the right direction, and I am keen to follow that Chepstow race which will produce plenty of winners down the line.
The tongue-tie goes on the first time, and if that helps him finish out his races stronger, he could take all the beating in here.
