OSLO – (1.15 Wincanton, 1pt win – 4/5)
The two to focus on here are flat recruits OSLO and Mascat, and although the selection is rated 5lbs inferior to the latter, he has gone to Fergal O’Brien and the presence of Paddy Brennan for the one ride makes him of interest.
At times, he was a rascal on the flat but showed plenty of ability, and he could prove a different proposition over hurdles. Oslo and Mascat (if using the 40lbs weight conversion) are possibly 20lbs clear of those with hurdle experience, and this race should feature just the two.
Mascat has joined a yard that is yet to have a National Hunt winner, and although he is a half brother to the useful William Of Orange, he may need more time.

YOUNG WOLF – (2.55 Wincanton, 2ptw win – 5/2) (NAP)
He is probably not one for maximum faith, but it was a step back in the right direction last time at Uttoxeter for YOUNG WOLF, and he has fallen 17lbs in the handicap from the heights of last season.
He should be able to reverse that form with Friends Don’t Ask, who isn’t sure to be suited by going right-handed (beaten out of sight on both occasions). The quick turnaround for favourite Flying Verse is a negative given he has been beaten when turned out within 12 days all three times since 2018.
There is little depth in the remainder of the field, and during the months of Sept/Oct the selection has form figures of 32121, so this could be the time to catch him. Jonjo O’Neil heads to Carlisle for one ride, but Richie McLernon is no bad replacement.

SUMMA PETO – (8.00 Chelmsford, 1pt win – 12/1)
A chance is taken on SUMMA PETO, who returns to the all-weather for the first time since demolishing his field at Wolverhampton. He is 9lbs higher in the weights here, but that form has worked out well, and he is worth forgiving his first run back after a break and a gelding operation at Ayr last time.
He is drawn well to attack in stall 3, and the only other pace angle in this race looks to be drawn wide in stall 12, so he could get a solo out in front.
