This could go to LIGHTNING ATTACK, who has fallen a long way in the handicap and is now 15lb below his last winning mark which came over course and distance this time last year.
He has been largely out of form but bounced back with a good effort at Kempton last month when touched off by a short head and a return to this venue, at which he is 1/2 could see him back in the winner’s enclosure. A speculative punt is taken on TRIPLE SPEAR who does require a leap of faith to side with after showing very little worthwhile form in his three starts since September, but the handicapper has reacted accordingly and he now qualifies for Class 5 company.
This is a first attempt in Class 5 since winning here over 5f this time last year off a handicap mark of 71 and he rates just 4lb higher today. His form in defeat over this 6f trip shouldn’t be overlooked given it would be enough to land this contest and shrewd connections have freshened him up since his poor run at Wolverhampton.
A chance is taken on him to bounce back to form at double-figure odds.

NOW CHILDREN simply hasn’t taken to jumps but is 4/11 on the Flat and it’s no coincidence that connections have got the best out of their seven-year-old in two bumper races.
His form figures, albeit from four years ago, over this mile trip read 111 and he reached a handicap height of 97 before going hurdling for Dan Skelton. He has raced on the Flat just twice since over trips of 1m4f and 2m, both in highly competitive class 2 races off handicap marks of 95 and 91.
He drops into a claimer here, in which connections have reduced his riding weight to 8st 12lb and that gives him every chance given he receives 12lb from the top weight and in a normal handicap he would be giving away 11lb.
He is the highest-rated horse in the field and is unexposed after just 11 starts on the Flat so a chance is taken with Luke Morris an eyecatching booking.
