LEAD STORY has been a slow burner for the yard, but he possesses plenty of untapped ability. This is only his second start on turf, and he caught the eye staying on strongly behind a progressive horse at Doncaster last time and today’s race is a drop in class.
He comfortably held Merry Secret over this trip at Lingfield, and he should be able to confirm the form with a strong pace on offer here.

[THE CITY’S PHANTOM] (3.10 Leicester, 1pt win 7/2)
THE CITY’S PHANTOM won well for us at Yarmouth last time out, and there looks to be no reason to abandon him now after a 5lb rise.
He ought to be applying his trade in higher class races shortly, so he should be more than capable of defying the handicapper sneaking into this Class 4 0-85 race. This is a good bit of placing by his trainer, and he can rack up the double for the season.

[DICKENS] (8.30 Yarmouth, 1pt win 6/1)
DICKENS took a good step forward on what he had achieved previously in three starts on seasonal reappearance, and he is entitled to improve again for race fitness. The handicapper dropped him 1lb in the weights, but he failed to get a clear passage at Newmarket and did well to finish a close up fourth behind an improver.
That was his first start in a handicap as a three-year-old, and he didn’t look entirely at home on the Newmarket track on his first attempt. He did the best of those from the rear of the field so there are plenty of reasons to expect an improved performance switched to this more conventional track.
