KING OF CLUBS impressed on his run here last month when finishing powerfully to be denied a short head by a fellow progressive rival and that was enough to think that he would have no issue winning a maiden contest such as this.
This represents an easy task on paper and Hughie Morrison’s runner has progressed with each start. He is entitled to take another step forward here given that run came on the back of a 113-day break so he gets the vote.

HORSEFLY looked as though she was ahead of her opening mark when held up in a slowly run race at Windsor last time and the form of that race looks strong in the context of this one. The winner ran well in a Listed contest next time out and the second bolted up by 10 lengths off a handicap mark of 80.
Those two rivals were well-positioned throughout and the selection was the only horse to make up any ground from the rear and that was after she was denied a clear run. She looks progressive and will surely be leaving this mark of 72 well behind in due course.

THREE HAT DAY (4.00 Nottingham, 1pt win 6/1)
THREE HAT DAY could well be thrown in off this mark on handicap debut and although she has shaped as though she wants 7f she is not short of speed. She caught the eye at Pontefract on seasonal return behind a useful one but was caught too far back to make any impression on the winning odds-on favourite rated 102.
She was only beaten four lengths and the third has since given the form a good boost. This straight-six furlongs should emphasize her stamina at the trip and she looks one to keep on side.

SUMMA PETO (4.10 Wolverhampton, 1pt win 13/2)
There is a good chance that this race will work out well in the future but it may pay to take a chance on SUMMA PETO who bolted up in excellent fashion on seasonal return at Ayr. The handicapper has taken a dim view of the form and only given him a 2lb rise which will either look bloody stupid or very sensible.
I am hoping it is the former as he left quite an impression towards the end of the race and his two-year-old form looks solid to suggest it was a believable performance.
