BLIND BEGGAR – (1.35 Ayr, 1pt win, 5/2)
This is a big drop in class for BLIND BEGGAR after contesting some of the season’s most competitive 6f handicaps, and the return to a testing surface could see him to much better effect here.
He is on a very workable handicap mark on the evidence of his last four runs, and he is almost certainly going to capitalise sooner or later, and it could be that soft ground may see him to best effect. He is worth chancing down into a Class 4 for the first time against more exposed rivals with Paul Hanagan back on board.

WOBWOBWOB – (3.20 Ayr, 1pt each-way, 13/2 – 4 places Betfair)
Ryan Sexton is yet to ride a winner, but that’s not through the lack of ability in the saddle, and he has a willing partner here in WOBWOBWOB who shaped as though a return to form was imminent last time over course and distance.
The return to soft ground for which he scored in a good race at Newmarket on his last attempt looks a positive, and the time figure of his latest run suggests he could have more to come off of this handicap mark. Sexton claims 7lbs, which is only a positive and his win at York three starts ago has worked out well. He has been overlooked in this market at double figures odds and is worth having on side effectively off a handicap mark of 81 (1lb higher than York win).

ZIP – (3.20 Ayr, 1pt each-way, 5/1 – 4 places Betfair)
A second selection in this race simply because I couldn’t get away from ZIP and both represent good value. Zip takes a drop back in grade after a good third at Haydock last time behind a soft ground specialist in Young Fire, and his run prior on the all-weather behind the progressive Oo De Lally looks a strong piece of form.
He sets the standard in this race with his excellent fourth in the Victoria Cup, for which he had today’s favourite in behind. The drop into a Class 3 event for which his recent form figures in this grade read 112 looks like a good move. He has conditions to run his race and looks a rock-solid each-way play at the prices despite being vulnerable to an improver.
