GUBBASS – (1.35 Ascot, 1pt win – 7/4)
A cracking two-year-old contest with the preference for GUBBASS who impressed with his natural speed on debut at Leicester under a mainly hand and heels ride from Sean Levey. He looks a real 5f specialist and was plenty green enough at the finish to suggest he will improve a bundle for that run. He hit the line hard and did things the tough way racing in down the centre of the track which will hold him in good stead for this Ascot course. Chipotle was full of promise on debut and his future may lie over 6f but is fancied to follow the selection home over The Gatekeeper.

HAQEEQY – (3.55 Ascot, 1pt win – 6/4)
HAQEEQY looked every inch a group performer when easily landing the odds in the Lincoln at Doncaster on seasonal reappearance and the time figure of that race matched up well to the corresponding race won by Top Rank. That was his first run after a gelding operation and of the season so there are reasons to think he can improve on that effort here and he surely has even better to come this season.

VANILLIER – (5.20 Punchestown, 1pt win – 11/4)
There was no fluke about the way VANILLIER won the Albert Bartlett and given he has a valid excuse for his below-par run at the Dublin Racing Festival (sick horse) he can continue to improve and confirm himself as the king of the staying novice division. His time figure was faster than Gallopin Des Champs who won the Martin Pipe on the same card and that recorded a career-best effort with him running right up to a mark of 150. A few of these have a bit to find on the ratings and Jonathan Moore, who missed the success at Cheltenham through injury, can rightly reap the rewards.

KEMBOY – (5.55 Punchestown, 1pt win – 4/1)
With no Minella Indo, KEMBOY looks overpriced especially given three of his six rivals don’t stay this 3m trip and the 2019 winner can confirm the placings with Al Boum Photo. He looks the value in the race and a line can be put through his Cheltenham run (doesn’t like the course) and he is better judged on his Irish Gold Cup win and his Savills Chase second at Leopardstown previously. He is 2/2 over fences here at Punchestown and can gain a third-course win.
