This represents a significant drop in grade for ZOUTOISE who caught they eye on Chase debut over a trip too far on ground too quick. Under more suitable conditions second time out showed up well when for a long way despite being very keen early on at Bangor but was given an impossible task against far superior opposition when beaten 36 lengths by subsequent winner Zambella (142). Today’s race is much more her level and she has been dropped 4lbs in the weights for those two runs and now drops into a 0-125 against some exposed older rivals many of whom have little to no form on ground as soft as this. It would be no surprise to see her get off the mark and there looks to be plenty of early pace on which can help her settle and she makes plenty of appeal at the prices given her very lightly raced profile.

Trincomalee – (1.45 – Market Rasen, 1pt win – 10/1)
Getaway Mag is certainly respected with the switch to a right handed track likely to suit her better but is was a weak race she picked up on chase debut and her best form has come on a sounder surface so can be left alone at the prices. TRINCOMALEE on the other hand was better than the bare result at Doncaster behind Imperil after a bad blunder as the pace started to quicken but he kept on nicely under careful handling. He is bred to appreciate this step back up in trip over fences and it is this trip that saw him win well at Warwick in a Novice Hurdle earlier this year. He has proved to be steadily progressive in three starts over fences and although his jumping does need to be improved upon this longer trip and slower pace along with first time cheek-pieces on deep ground should help with that. He has the services of Brian Hughes and he has left the feeling that there is more to come from him.

Will Victory – (2.40 Taunton, 1pt win – 15/2)
WILL VICTORY doesn’t come off well at the weights here but the favourite, although admirable this season, has different conditions to contend with today and looks worth taking on at the odds. The selection in contrast has handled conditions similar to today when in France and in two starts this season she has shown to be useful herself. She chased home Gran Luna in a good time figure at Newbury before the lack of fitness likely took its toll in the closing stages and then was travelling well before falling in Listed Company at the same venue last month. She is only a four-year-old and open to plenty of improvement and is one of few who will go through the ground and she looks wildly over-priced with some firms.
