FEIVEL – (2.20 Hexham, 2pts each-way – SP)
This is a wide-open contest, and the point to point form of Gandhi Maker should not be overlooked, but it’s hard to envisage FEIVEL out of the frame in this contest after shaping with considerable promise for his new yard last month on seasonal reappearance.
He fell when still having a big part to play at the finish at Uttoxeter, and the winner that day had previously chased home the useful Topofthecotswolds when better than the bare result of seven lengths second.
That’s a good piece of form in the context of this race, and his debut run at Naas behind Ballywilliam Boy (132) and Lifetime Ambition (125) suggests he can run up to a mark that will put him in with a big shout today. The heavy ground will put an emphasis on stamina which should play to his strengths, and there is very little reason to think he won’t go well today.

GRAND TURINA – (2.30 Lingfield, 1pt win – 4/1)
A chance is taken with GRAND TURINA, who shaped with a good deal of promise when unseating at Wetherby on return and would have given the useful Muckamore something to think about if staying on her feet. She is a ten chase raced maiden but lightly raced for her age and now steps into Veteran company for the first time, and the jockey who rode last time is good value for his ten pounds claim.
She has some good form in defeat and today finds herself up against much more exposed rivals, and four are returning from huge absences. Native Robin is largely consistent, but the application of the cheek-pieces are a slight concern given he reacted poorly to them last time he was tried.

INDUNO – (3.30 Lingfield, 1pt win – 7/2)
With Brorson now a non-runner, INDUNO gets the call up in replacement. He was below par when tipped up on his seasonal return at Chepstow, but the return to this deeper surface should emphasise stamina, and that will play to his strengths.
He will surely want further than this at some point, but he stuck to the task well on seasonal return despite looking outpaced coming down the hill, and it’s unlikely anything will happen too quickly under today’s conditions.
He is fairly treated even on a time-figure basis on that run, and he should improve for fitness, given that came after 371 days off the track. He needs to take a step forward now, so this will be his last opportunity.
