BALLYBEGG clocked a good time in eased down fashion at Hereford when winning by 18 lengths to suggest that he is capable of running to marks in the high 120’s and that should be enough with improvement forth coming to land this race. He is a free-going sort but the step up in trip really suited him and he has some excellent point to point form that suggests he can improve past this bunch so gets a confident vote to land the spoils.

Strange race this with a couple dropping back over hurdles from a chase campaign and that should be to the benefit of the speedy ALBERT’S BACK who has gone from strength to strength this season. A winner of both of his starts this term and 4/5 over hurdles in his career he has clocked some excellent time figures including at this venue on his penultimate start. A mark of 141 doesn’t look beyond the progressive seven-year-old on that basis and he represents value over some bigger names that will attract support because of their chase exploits rather than what they have done over hurdles.

None of these look ahead of their marks on what they have shown thus far so it may pay to follow the unexposed AURELIA OR who although 0/3 has progressed with each run. She stuck to the task gamely at Newbury behind a useful rival in Little River Bay who had clocked some decent numbers before taking in that engagement and her run to finish third screamed as though she wanted a step up in trip. She gets that today and she could prove too strong at the finish for her rivals off a light weight.
