TAQAREER – (1.40 York, 1pt each-way – 9/1)
With Shandoz a late non runner TAQAREER steps. He was behind Throne Hall when green as grass at Doncaster on his first run of the season on the back of a gelding operation but shaped as though he would improve plenty for the run.
He then chased home My Frankel at Kempton 11 days later when very keen early on and on that evidence has little to find with his more experienced rivals. Judging on his RPR of 101 on his only turf start he is well worth another chance for powerful connections.

STRAIT OF HORMUZ – (1:40pm York, 1pt each-way – 18/1)
STRAIT OF HORMUZ is the other I want on side but his hold up style of running may not be suited to this course. He is, however, a very well handicapped horse off a mark of 93 on the balance of his form last season notably his first run of the season at Haydock in which he beat horses now rated 23lbs, 9lbs, 18lbs and 5lbs higher.
He improved run on run last term including when scoring comfortably off a handicap mark of 88 at Doncaster so this mark of 93 shouldn’t be beyond him.

MANIGORDO – (2.10 York, 1pt each-way – 11/1)
MANIGORDO relished the drop back in trip to 6f at Thirsk on his first attempt and he remains a well-handicapped horse on his run last term at Doncaster behind Tanchee who is 14lbs higher rated 102. This flat track will play to his strengths and he is sure to be allowed to bowl along in front again and improvement looks on the cards.

PROPRIETY – (4.50 York, 1pt win – 9/1)
Another race where I am siding with two. PROPIERTY looked more than useful when scoring at Musselburgh and even a 11lbs rise in the weights may not stop her progress. She had some solid form for Sir Michael Stoute but has turned over a new leaf for these connections who have a habit of getting the best out of new recruits.
She showed a blistering turn of foot when asked by Daniel Tudhope away from the gates at Beverley on her penultimate start but in turn was then too keen to hold on. Today’s scenario could suit her well.

FLYIN’ SOLO – 4:50pm York, 1ot win – 7/1)
FLYIN’ SOLO has been crying for a step up in trip to this distance and did remarkably well to get his head in front at Newbury last time out when held up off a slow gallop. His closing sectionals marry up well to the other races on the card with himself and the runner-up the two to take from the race. He is unexposed and only 4lbs higher here with the extra distance bound to suit so must go close.
