Horse Racing Tips - Daryl Carter Best Bets On Wednesday, November 3

Daryl Carter continues into Wednesday, with another three selections, all from the meeting at Chepstow. Check them out below, along with an excellent offer from William Hill for new mobile customers of Bet £10 – Get £40.

LUSITANIEN (NAP) – (1:00pm Chepstow, 1.5pts e/w, 10/1) (5 places Betfair)

LUSITANIEN caught the eye in all of his three runs, including on debut at Hereford when he was travelling well before dropping out like a light. His second start in January was very eye-catching behind two very useful horses in Grumpy Charley and Real Stone when third.

Still, the performance was suspicious of a future handicap campaign. Every horse in that race just let the two market leaders get on with the job, and it was like watching two different races. However, Lustianien easily cantered away from the remainder, with Adam Wedge seemingly keen not to get close to the two in front under no more than a hand and heels ride.

The fourth from that contest bolted up three days ago at Uttoxeter. His last outing at Uttoxeter, he was the only horse to make any inroads on the runaway winner who made all of the runnings and again, Adam Wedge was easy on him in the closing stages allowing the eventual runner up to come by him.

That runner-up is rated 108, and the selection was giving him 7lbs that day. I tipped the 7th from that race, Tibbie Dunbar, at Exeter yesterday, and she bolted up on handicap debut off an opening mark of 98 by ten lengths. The selection runs off an opening handicap mark today of 102, which is surely not beyond this improving youngster.

WITNESS PROTECTION – (2.30 Chepstow, 2pts win – 3/1)

WITNESS PROTECTION deserves a good upgrade for his Newton Abbot second to War Lord, given his jumping was sloppy in stages, and he jumped into the back of the winner and the third at a crucial time in the race.

That left him flat-footed as the pace quickened, but overall it was a promising first run over fences. The time figure of that performance matched up extremely well to the Novice Hurdle run on the card, and the selection finished with running left.

He has a fitness edge over many of his rivals today and returns to Chepstow, where he ran an excellent race to edge out Can You Call last season. His two-length defeat to Faivoir at Cheltenham in a Novice Hurdle in receipt of just 4lbs makes him look well handicapped, and with that recent run now under his belt, he should take some stopping.

CAN YOU CALL (2:30pm Chepstow, 1pt e/w – 14/1)

I want to have a cover bet on the above mentioned CAN YOU CALL, who has clocked a useful time figure over hurdles behind Witness Protection here at Chepstow and looked every inch a chaser for the future last term.

He was below par at Southwell when caught late on his final start in a Maiden Hurdle but is more than capable fresh. He looks on a very fair mark for his handicap debut, and at a double-figure price, it’s easier to back him rather than worrying about him for the above selection.
