This is far easier than the assignments that OSCAR ROBERTSON has been given for quite some time, and although he didn’t improve on his latest start at Newbury in a good class 3 contest, he is entitled to improve for that seasonal return run.
This represents a drop in grade and a step back up in trip, which he now looks ready for on the latest evidence. He takes on mainly exposed rivals today and has a race fitness edge over his two main market rivals. He won second time out here in a Novice Hurdle in 2019, and he won second time out at Hereford last term off 1lb lower, and another step forward today will see him tough to beat in this company.

ANTUNES – (2.50 Wetherby, 1pt win – 8/1)
ANTUNES put in some good work last season, and it was a mistake down the back at Aintree that saw him fail to pick up on seasonal return, but he is another who is entitled to improve for that outing. He was an impressive winner here in 2019 over hurdles, and his last visit to a left-handed track saw him score off a 6lbs lower mark over fences at Chepstow in a very good time figure.
He has been kept right-handed since then outside of his return run, so looks worth another chance. He is lightly raced over hurdles after just seven starts, and the fitting of the tongue-tie could see him improve further. He is another with a good second time out record, with three of his four wins under rules coming on his second start after a break.
