He is clearly on a workable handicap mark on the evidence of his second behind Fine Casting at Newbury, and he did best of the rest behind a nice horse at Wincanton who was thrown in. At Leicester, a well-handicapped course specialist beat him, and there looks to be nothing of that sort in this contest. He is steadily improving, so a chance is taken for him to put it all together today.

SMARTY WILD – (4.05 Kempton, 2pt win – 5/2)
SMARTY WILD can deservingly get his head in front after a near miss here behind a rejuvenated and well-handicapped rival last month. He is steadily progressive and meets many rivals on the downgrade, and he won’t find many better opportunities than this.
He has built up a good record at this Kempton venue over fences and is ground versatile. With a strong pace, likely he can continue his improvement at this trip of 3m for which he is relatively unexposed. Plenty of these are capable on their day, and the main threat may come from Colonial Dreams, for who a return to a sounder surface will see him in a positive light, and he is unexposed over fences. Still, he dropped out tamely at Lingfield and now has questions to answer and having course experience here for the selection is a big positive.
