Horse Racing Tips - Daryl Carter's Best Bets on Friday, February 4

EVA’S OSKAR – (2:25 Chepstow – 1pt each-way – 7/1)

EVA’S OSKAR could never get into the Welsh National after being hampered at the start and forced to race at the rear of the field, so it’s worth putting a line through that run and with his sights lowered here down in grade, he can put in a bold showing.

He has a good record here with form figures of 11177 (the last two debut bumper run and hurdle debut), and the return to a smaller field looks another positive. He has a fair record on good ground, with four of his five wins coming on a sounder surface, and he looks a good each-way bet now off his correct handicap mark.

ALRIGHTJACK – (4.00 Chepstow – 1pt each-way – 20/1)

ALRIGHTJACK has been running over the wrong trip the last twice and has failed to stay 3m, but the return to this distance for which he was a ready winner at Fontwell in a good time figure by nine lengths off 1lb lower suggests he is well-handicapped. He was rated as high as 127, and a return to Chepstow could be enough to see him back in the winner’s enclosure.

He has a good record here with his last visit in 2019 when fourth in the Silver Trophy in a race that has worked out remarkably well (Flash The Steel won, Champagne Court, Ballyandy, etc) and prior to that was touched off by Jatiluwih (rated 145). He is relatively unexposed over hurdles at this level, and the drop into class 4 looks a good move by connections. Gavin Sheehan jumps back in the saddle with form figures outside of class 2 company of 136221 in the last two years.

TATHMEEN – (5.45 Newcastle – 1pt win – 17/2)

TATHMEEN was unlucky for us the last day and is under similar conditions today, so granted a bit of luck this time, it could pay to follow him again. I won’t repeat the monologue, but say he has a good record over his optimum trip of 5f here at Newcastle and is on a career-low handicap mark.

This is a class 5 contest today, which is not as perfect as the recent class 6, but the quick turnaround stats still apply, and he can land us a deserved winner.
