VALSHEDA – (1.15 Exeter, 2pts win – 7/2)
VALSHEDA has had a few entries this week, and while this is a bit deeper than I would have liked, I still think this horse is superbly handicapped off this mark of 125. He has taken a while to come to hand, but he is undoubtedly built for fences and the sharp nature of Kempton last time didn’t see him in the best light.
He returns to his Novice Hurdle win scene, and he has plenty of scope for improvement. When given a tap of the whip by Nico at Kempton, the response was very eye-catching, and he is sure to rate much higher than this handicap mark shortly. I was hoping to have a good punt on this horse this week, but given the depth in this race, I have had to reign it in a touch.

JACAMAR – (2.40 Leicester, 1pt win – 9/4)
The Edgar Wallace met every fence with precision at Market Rasen last time, and he is open to significant improvement, but JACAMAR gets the vote to get his head back in front in these calmer waters. The seven-year-old did well from the rear of the field at Warwick last time when bumping into a well-handicapped rival, and he wasn’t disgraced in a hot Cheltenham handicap the time before.
His form on balance has worked out well, and this is far easier than his recent assignments. This mark of 131 is more than workable, and he should be making a good fist of this.
