We have a cracking Saturday of racing ahead, including the big race at Doncaster, the Lincoln Handicap. Our top tipster Daryl Carter, brings five selections across the days cards, with tips from ther aforementioned Doncaster, plus Kempton and Kelso too. 2.25 Doncaster – Empirestateofmind – 1pt win, 7/2 (generally)
This is trappy, but EMPIRESTATEOFMIND is undoubtedly well capable off of this handicap mark of 83 on the balance of his form. Everywhere you look suggests that he is a well-handicapped horse, including his latest run behind today’s Lincoln favourite when he gave that one first run, and he is only 1lb higher here with nothing of the sort of that rival in this contest.
This is his return to action, though, and he may need the run, but it’s positive to see the blinkers on the first time up this term, and he has very valid claims from a handicapping perspective. Mostawaa is a horse I had been tracking since his excellent run here on return last season, and he rates a considerable danger, but he is vulnerable to an improver. Still, it will wind me up should he get his head in front here!

2.40 Kempton – Alright Sunshine – 0.5pt each-way, 14/1 (generally)
ALRIGHT SUNSHINE might not be as well-handicapped as a couple in here, but this is far weaker on paper than many of the races he contested last term and the step back up to 2m for the first time since an excellent third off 1lb higher at Haydock (1m6f) behind a very well-handicapped Sir Mark Prescott horse, when not getting a strong pace to aim at, is a big postitive.
There looks to be a good amount of pace on in this contest, and he has taken well to the AW despite his 0-3 record. He was a big eye-catcher in the Northumberland Plate in June last year, and he has form figures of 229111 off a break and now could be the time to catch him.

3.15 Kelso – Rae Des Champs – 1pt each-way, 9/1 (generally 10/1 365)
Kelso tends to be a test of stamina, and for that reason, RAE DES CHAMPS gets the vote to take another step forward on just her fourth start over hurdles. Her Irish Point to Point form makes this handicap mark of 107 look well within reach, and she showed an excellent battling attitude to get off the mark at Musselburgh – a sharp speed track – which wouldn’t have seen her to best effect.
This stiff finish at Kelso will play to her strengths, and she arrives here on a steep upward curve. She looks an excellent each-way bet with a race that is highly likely to be run to suit.

3.35 Doncaster – Modern News – 1pt win, 4/1 (generally)
MODERN NEWS is almost certainly set to be suited by this step up to 1m on the balance of his form to date, and he had the ideal prep spin for this recording a career-best in Meydan last month. The claim of Harry Davies is another positive to his chances of effectively running off a handicap mark of 98 here.
He has the potential to go on to be a group performer, and the yard have won this with similar types twice in the last five years. He is drawn fairly in stall eight, meaning he will be able to tack onto the favoured stand sides rail, and he should be kept out of trouble and able to make his challenge down the centre of the track.
He is a classy sort that is open to vast improvement this season on the evidence of his Meydan third, especially with that form confirmed by the first two next time at the same venue.

3:35pm Doncaster – Ametist – 1pt each-way, 16/1 (365, Wills Hills 6 places generally)
AMETIST is a horse we haven’t seen the best of yet, and he is relatively unexposed at this 1m distance. He doesn’t fit the trends for this race being a five-year-old, but he is with a handler that can bring out further improvement with time. He ran a blinder in the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket when last seen in first-time cheek-pieces, and they are retained here for his first start of the season.
He has been granted a good draw in stall 13, and he won in good style when fresh last season off a 314 days break, so the absence shouldn’t be a concern. This track and this 1m trip should suit him, and he has each-way claims with bookmakers paying six places.
