TOWN PARKS (2.40 Hereford, 1pt win, 17/2)
The unexposed horses are rightfully at the top of this market, but it may pay to give a chance to TOWN PARKS, who was useful in his day and hasn’t been disgraced in his last two outings, including latest at Haydock when tracking the inside rail on the worst of the ground. Both of those runs have come in Class 3 company, and the eleven-year-old has been dropped eight pounds in the weights. He may not be the force of old, but inclusive of the jockey claim today, he is off a career-low handicap mark by 14lbs and is down into a class 4 for the first time over fences. He also boasts a good course record here at Hereford with form figures of 142012, and his best efforts have come in field sizes of nine or fewer runners. He was better than the bare result suggests at Haydock, so it may be worth chancing back at the scene of his last win.

MONMIRAL (2.50 Fontwell, 1pt win, 3/1)
MONMIRAL may come with risks attached, but the step up in trip and the stiff finish here at Fontwell will play to his strengths. They tend to get racing a good way out in this contest, and that could just suit the five-year-old who takes on mainly exposed rivals who are standard-bearers rather than progressive horses. Brewin’upastorm and Darver Star had a good ding dong battle in desperate conditions at Lingfield last month. Gaurd Your Dreams, and Botox Has have a bit to find on the ratings and Allmankind, although talented on his day, looks a better chaser than a hurdler. Despite being struck into at Newcastle, he went well for a long way in that 2m contest against some in-form horses and looked threatening until two-out. This test looks much more suitable for him, and given how bullish connections were at Newcastle, he should be making his presence felt in this company.
