Horse Racing Tips - Daryl Carter's Best Bets on Sunday, January 30

Daryl Carter had two superb winners in Cormier and Torn And Frayed, as well as an each-way winner in Severance, on Saturday. He has three selections on Sunday as he looks to back those winners up alongside an exclusive Virgin Bet offer that provides new customers with £20 in free bets.

RUN WILD FRED (12.40 Naas, 2pt win 5/2)

RUN WILD FRED looks the play here at the prices. I am not entirely convinced about the stamina of Stattler, while En Beton needs a good deal of improvement on the bare form. The selection made a bad blunder at Leopardstown when beaten by Fury Road, who is a very smart horse over 3m, but he stuck to the task well. His experience here will hold him in good stead, and his form’s level is far superior to that of his rivals today. He looks a cracking bet at the prices, especially in receiving eight pounds from Vanillier.

FELIX DESJY (1.40 Naas, 0.5pt win 10/1)

Saint Felicien is far too short in this market after recording an RPR of just 139 at Gowran Park and stepping into Grade 3 company, giving away weight. It might also be a tell-tell sign that Davy Russell chooses FELIX DESJY of the three Elliott runners who receives 4lb from his stablemate and 9lb from Darasso, which makes him second top-rated behind Petit Mouchoir. The market has underestimated his chances and he doesn’t have that much to find with the latter on their meeting at Tipperary in October. A good swing at the weights and first time cheek-pieces could be enough to see him improve again over hurdles after a failed chase campaign last term. He is entitled to improve for his run at Leopardstown at Christmas, for which he jumped poorly, costing him any chance of playing a hand with a poor mistake at the fourth and fifth. He needs to jump better, but the application of the cheek-pieces could see him in a better light. He had previously won twice when the hood was re-applied, so hopefully, this headgear does the trick.

KING ARISE (3.20 Fontwell, 1pt win 4/1)

KING ARISE looks to have been let in lightly for his handicap debut off this opening handicap mark of 106 and connections look to have found an ideal race for him. He set good early fractions on the front end at Sedgefield only to be collared last on in desperate ground but showed a good attitude to battle back to the line. His previous third behind Lydford at Southwell suggests he should prove better than this opening handicap mark and his jockey claims a further five pounds. The return to a sounder surface and the step up in trip are positives to his chances.
