Horse Racing Tips - Daryl Carter's Best Bets on Sunday, March 13th

Our regular tipping dynamo, Daryl Carter, brings three selections for Sunday’s racing at Warwick and Naas. Check out his tips below alongside an excellent Bet £10 – Get £60 Sign-Up Bonus! at Paddy Power

GALICE MECALO – (2.45 Warwick, 1pt win – 5/2)

This looks like a good opportunity for GALICE MACALO to score after proving her stamina for this trip in a stronger event at Ludlow last time, and the handicapper has been generous dropping her five pounds in three chase starts this year. She has been knocking on the door and there looks to be a good amount of pace on in this race for a small field event that will suit her.

She paid the price at Hereford for going hammer and tongs with Calico for the lead and was then too keen at Huntingdon in a Listed contest. This looks more her level and back on a left-handed track (can jump left); she should have enough in hand to land this event.

SHANTY ALLEY – (3.55 Warwick, 1pt win – 5/1)

SHANTY ALLEY was due to run at Wincanton last week, but the quicker surface saw him pulled out, and this should be more to his liking (good ground there rather than the advised good to soft). He has won on his third start in 2018/2019, 2020/2021 season, and he shaped as though he would be all the better for his run in the Tommy Whittle at Haydock last time when far better than the bare result.

This trip should hold no fears, and he is handicapped to have a say after being dropped seven pounds this term for essentially two runs he would have needed and one in a much higher grade than this. He now drops into a 0-125 for the first time since Jan last year when scoring by 12 lengths, and he should be making his presence felt here.

CHAMPAGNE PLATINUM – (4.40 Naas, 2pts win – 9/2)

I quite liked CHAMPAGNE PLATINUM for the Kim Muir next week at the Cheltenham Festival, so naturally, I think he has a big chance in this less competitive handicap. He is firmly on the upgrade and finished like a train behind Death Duty at Punchestown last month. He has always been a horse with sizeable ability, and he looks the best-handicapped horse in the race today. The track and ground should be in his favour, and his trainer can benefit from missing Cheltenham by landing this prize.
