Just a quick message to followers of the column to apolgise for the awful form in the last six weeks. I am currently racking my brain as to what has gone wrong, but, in all honesty, I really don’t know. A good proportion of the selections have gone off shorter than advised. Far too many have traded low in running only to be beaten. It’s really been a rough time in the last few weeks, and I can only hope we get back on track sooner rather than later. MADE ON THE MOON – (14:20 Huntingdon, 1pt win – 13/2)
A chance is taken with MADE ON THE MOON, who was about to play her hand before coming down at Taunton last month and gave the impression she was going to give a good fight to the winner rated 116 and the runner-up rated 112. That’s a good level of hurdle form for this contest – which is a terribly poor one on paper. Her bumper form is not as strong as Signal Point’s, but she has improved with each run, and she could improve past that one who returns to the track quickly after disappointing last time out. Mattie Ross will be a player if fit and ready on seasonal/hurdle debut while Becky The Boo’s progression has stalled.

The way PETTY CASH put the race to bed at Ffos Las on handicap debut suggested there was plenty more to come from him. He has caught the eye in a few Novice events throughout the season when seemingly being ridden with handicaps in mind. The five-year-old looks the type to continue his progress, and this seven pounds higher handicap mark shouldn’t be enough to stop him.
