IVATHEENGINE – (6.00 Chelmsford, 2pts win – 5/1)
This small field scenario will suit IVATHEENGINE, who is drawn well in stall one and shaped with considerable promise in a top-class handicap at Newbury over an inadequate 5f on the back of a long break.
That race has already worked out very well, and it’s likely the winner will race in Group 1 company at Royal Ascot. That was his first start for 300 days and his second defeat from two attempts at 5f. At today’s trip of 6f, he is 3/3 including on the AW, and it’s likely the return run was to sharpen him up, but he caught the eye finishing well.
It didn’t pay to be held up in that race so the effort can be upgraded, and he certainly proved that Class 2 is the level he belongs at, so now dropped in class and returned to 6f, he has to be of interest. Confidence heightens given his capable jockey claims 5lbs and coupled with the 2lb drop from the handicapper, he is essentially 7lbs lower here. The tongue-tie goes on the first time, and he is the least exposed in the field. He is one to keep on side going forward.

GREAT KING looked a little unfortunate not to finish closer to the runner way winner at Wolverhampton last time when doing best of those held up at the rear, and the handicapper looks to have given him a chance up just 1lb.
He is highly progressive, and his Maiden win prior to his handicap debut has worked out well with the second and fourth both bolting up next time out. My Swallow looks well treated but also in need of further so remains one to keep on side.
