I want to take on Amenon on the basis that he had a very hard race 21 days ago in deep ground at Sandown, and today’s faster conditions are not likely to be up his street. There are mixed feelings about his rating of 122, so COULD TALKABOUTIT for Colin Tizzard is offered up as the answer.
He ran a blinder despite jumping poorly at Taunton behind the useful Doctor Parnassus beating horses rated 114 and 11, and he was staying on at the finish suggesting there was more in the tank. The fifth has finished a similar distance behind Gelino Belo next time at Newbury, so the form looks solid.
He was a big eye-catcher at the same venue on hurdle debut despite being keen and green at the rear of the field, and another step forward would leave him next to nothing to find with the favourite – if that one is on song.

NICKELSONTHEDIME finally steps up to 3m and arrives here on the back of an encouraging effort when second to a progressive rival at Hereford. That was another step in the right direction to keep in line with his steady improvement since fitted with the tongue-tie and that 2m3f trip around a sharp track like Hereford would not have played to his strengths.
This track should suit him, and he has been crying out for a step up to this distance for some time. This is not a deep race despite the numbers. Landspark is feared the most, and Rideau Canal could show improved form on his first step into handicap company.
