ROSA GOLD shaped as though she would continue the progressive thread this season when better than the bare result on seasonal return at Leicester, finishing fifth of eight in a highly competitive handicap off this mark of 78. She steps into fillies only company for the first time since her debut at Kempton and the form of her last visit to this venue looks solid for the level so there are no track queries and given her lightly raced profile (just 9 rules starts) she could have plenty more to offer.
She holds a race fitness advantage over the favourite today who has been weak at the finish previously and she has seen out further trips than this so there look to be very few negatives so gets a confident vote here.

THE MOUSE DOCTOR (4.50 Punchestown, 0.5pt each-way 28/1)
It may pay to take a chance on THE MOUSE DOCTOR who gets in here at the foot of the weights and is fit from two runs on the flat and there is a good chance that these shrewd connections have been holding their eight-year-old back for a big handicap pot. He was last seen over hurdles scooting away in September at Navan off a handicap mark of 118 and the useful time figure that day suggested he was almost certainly a 130 horse.
He had caught the eye last term at the Dublin Racing Festival in a hot handicap off a mark of 121 when short of room in the closing stages and he is very lightly raced to suggest he doesn’t have more to offer so at a price he is worth a small punt.

CHACUN POUR SOI (5.25 Punchestown, 2.5pt win 5/4)
They say never look a gift horse in the mouth and I am certainly not about to do that here but CHACUN POUR SOI could look just that after this race at his current price, a gift. He clearly never gave his running at Cheltenham and he may not have travelled over well for all I know but on the speed figures, he generated before that at Leopardstown I am happy to put a line through it.
Back on home waters, he is taking on a stablemate, who was impressive at Cheltenham granted, but one that was placed second in the 3m Albert Bartlett and 3m RSA chase at the last two festivals. Today’s drop back in trip will be a whole different ball game against specialist two-milers and the selection sits at the top of that tree.
He has course form, the strongest 2m form, the fastest time figures and very little to put you off. Connections of his rivals will have to hope that he has stood too much racing this year and for him to underperform which makes him a bet at the prices, and a strong one.

MONKFISH (6.30 Punchestown, 2pt win 11/10)
MONKFISH has now become a really attractive price at the time of writing (11/10) especially given he is the only horse in the field to have proven stamina at this 3m trip. His performance at Cheltenham was slightly underwhelming but that was due to his jumping errors, not his sizeable engine.
This is a hot race with Envoi Allen stepping up in trip but that one comes here on the back of an uncharacteristic fall and it hasn’t been the best start for his new yard so with the negatives stacking up against him he is hard to warm to.
