ANOTHER BROWN BEAR – (2.55 Ludlow – 1pt win, 10/3)
This is not a strong race on paper, and despite suffering some heavy defeats in a short career, ANOTHER BROWN BEAR could have found the perfect opportunity to get off the mark. He makes his chase debut today and returns to the scene of his excellent second when last facing some good ground, and today conditions are replicated for him to produce another fine effort.
His run here in November reads well in the contest of this race and the ground and 3m trip (non-stayer) as valid reasons as to why he can be forgiven his latest two runs. The presence of Nico De Boinville can also give punters confidence.

VALSHEDA – (4.15 Ffos Las – 3pts win, 5/4)
VALSHEDA is a horse I think is superbly handicapped off this mark of 125. He has taken a while to come to hand, but he is undoubtedly built for fences and the sharp nature of Kempton last time didn’t see him in the best light. Still, when given a tap of the whip by Nico at Kempton, the response was very eye-catching when sprinting all the way to the line.
He is a horse that almost certainly wants to go left-handed given how much he switched his legs to get onto his lead fore at Kempton (jumps off his left fore), and this more galloping track should play to his strengths. The Kempton race has seen the winner go in again and rated 10lbs higher, and the fourth has won next time out also. Valsheda is almost certainly capable of winning races off of this mark of 125, is completely unexposed and will prove tough to beat.
It’s interesting that Nico De Boinville has gone to ride our other selection rather than here, but James Bowen is a worthy replacement with a 23% strike rate. Ask For Glory could prove a different proposition now over fences, but he has clearly had an issue with his wind, and he needs to show there are no problems in that department before backing him, and he may not be as well-handicapped as the selection either way but is still feared the most.
