Huntingdon Racing Tips (Monday 22 December 2025)
Seven races take place at Huntingdon over the Jumps and Andrew Mount’s best bet on the card runs at 12.50pm.
12.50 Huntingdon – Petty Cash (1.5pt win – 7/2 888sport, 100/30 generally)
He Knows Better (tipped in this column) was still in contention when falling on his chase debut at Haydock last time and will appreciate the switch to a right-handed track but after much deliberation I’ve decided to come down on the side of Henry Daly’s Petty Cash. The eight-year-old was an eyecatcher at Chepstow on last month’s reappearance, coming from the rear to finish three lengths behind all-the-way winner Ben Solo and earning a big sectional upgrade in the process. He was clear of the other closers in that 2m3.5f contest and fifth-placed Dartmoor Pirate, who was also ridden patiently, was a winner at Lingfield yesterday. The son of Getaway was returning from a year off the track that day and his yard’s runners have been going well at the second time of asking this term, with five winners from 25 qualifiers for a profit of £3.88 to a £1level stake at SP (+£9.83 at Betfair SP after 2% commission). Daly’s handicap chasers are four from 14 second time out this season (that looked like being five from 14 until Mythe Bridge fell at the last at Uttoxeter last Friday) and he was an easy winner of a handicap hurdle on his sole previous visit to Huntingdon.
Musselburgh Racing Tips (Monday 22 December 2025)
Only six races take place at Musselburgh this afternoon and Andrew’s best bet on the card runs in the 1.08pm event.
1.08 Musselburgh – Okovango Delta (1pt win – 5/1 bet365, 9/2 general)
Musselburgh’s chase course is a good one for front-runners but with three of them doing battle in this 2m4f contest I’m happy to side with Okovango Delta, who is likely to be ridden patiently. Paul Robson’s nine-year-old finished a best-of the-closers three-length second to Nathan Wells over 2m here on last month’s reappearance and the eight-length third, Prospect House, gave the form a boost when scoring at Catterick next time. Okovango Delta is two from two over course and distance and will appreciate the step back up in trip.
Wolverhampton Racing Tips (Monday 22 December 2025)
There’s a bumper nine-race card at Wolverhampton on the all-weather that gets under way at 4.30pm, with Andrew’s sole tip running in the 5pm race.
5.00 Wolverhampton – Beach Partee (1pt win – 9/2 generally)
Short-priced favourite American Flight, unbeaten at right-handed Kempton, hung right under pressure when landing a 6f nursery by a neck at the Sunbury venue last time and is not certain to be suited by the switch to left-handed Wolverhampton and the drop to 5f for the first time since October’s Chelmsford second to Beach Partee. His Chelmsford conqueror has displayed the ‘OXO’ pattern since gelded, recording form figures of 4141617 (3-7) and that inability to back up a good run helps to explain why he bombed out at Chelmsford on his latest start, finishing last of seven just nine days after a 5f Lingfield win. He’s three from three on the all-weather immediately following a defeat, with the wins after breaks of 14, 20 and 19 days, and is worth a bet to bounce back after 18 days off the track.
