1:50pm Goodwood – Coral Kincsem Handicap
Peter Chapple-Hyam’s BLAKE cruised to an emphatic victory at Sandown Park last time out when winning by one-and-three-quarter lengths and he can build on that fine win by landing victory in the opening event at 1:50pm at Glorious Goodwood. Travelling serenely well that day, he kicked clear of his rivals to put the race to bed and he’s entitled to continue on an upward curve.
He’s been handed a notable 9lbs rise for that win, but he’s still potentially ahead of the handicapper off a mark of 88 and if he can travel as well in this event then he could well be very tough to beat in what is a trappy opening contest.

2:25pm Goodwood – Markel Richmond Stakes
Second in the Railway Stakes at the Curragh last time out, The Strikin Viking has shown to be a really top notch juvenile and he’s well fancied to go one better in the Richmond Stakes at 2:25pm. However, there could be a value alternative in the shape of Andrew Balding’s TROPICAL STORM, who was last seen finishing a fine runner-up in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Stepping up to six furlongs for the first time the son of Eqtidaar beat some very smart youngsters in that Norfolk with the likes of Whistlejacket and Arizona Blaze behind him in that 5f event. He still remains a maiden after three starts, but this can be the race that sees him claim a first victory in a race full of potential.

3:35pm Goodwood – Qatar Nassau Stakes
Well beaten by Porta Fortuna in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, Opera Singer will look to bounce back to winning ways in the feature race on Thursday, the Nassau Stakes at 3:35pm. The classy three-year-old will be in receipt of weight from her older rivals, but may just lack the quality to deal with a proven Group 1 performer in the shape of EMILY UPJOHN, who can land this prize with aplomb.
The former Coronation Cup winner was last seen chasing home Bluestocking in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh, which is top notch form, and if John & Thady Gosden can get the five-year-old firing on all cylinders then she can just prove to be far too good for her rivals here.
