Hamilton 5:10 – Sky Bet Build A Bet Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+ 0-105) Makanah 20/1 0.5pt EW 4 places
The Camacho yard haven’t been the most consistent of late, but they’ve had two well handicapped horses go in recently, including Makeen in a first time visor at Beverley. MAKANAH has been equipped with the visor for the first time, and if he takes well to the aid then is well handicapped on last seasons form off a mark of 92 to return to the winners enclosure.
He fared well from an unfavourable track position in rear at Newmarket off top-weight on seasonal reappearance, and that form’s worked out well with the third winning next time out, along with the 10th and 11th, the latter taking the Dash at Epsom yesterday.
He has to bounce back from a poor show at York over six furlongs, but he took his record over the trip to 0-11 there and never looked comfortable, so I’m keen to draw a line through that and chance him back down in trip with a suitable draw.
Hamilton 5:40 – Sky Bet Request A Bet Fillies’ Handicap (Class 3) (3yo+ 0-90) Carolina Reaper 14/1 1pt EW 3 places
CAROLINA REAPER wasn’t disgraced in a hot listed contest at York last month, despite taking a keen hold throughout. She travelled well toward the inner but couldn’t quite match the finishing kick of some unexposed, progressive sorts. She still galloped to the line, and finished only two lengths behind Glimpsed who was only beaten two lengths in a G3 at Epsom yesterday.
She’s an interesting contender dropping into handicap company off a mark of 90 getting the three year old allowance, as she was G3 winner as a two year old last August and she came good on her third start last year, so it may be that she needs a couple of runs to reach peak fitness.
Hamilton 6:40 – Sky Bet Acca Freeze Handicap (Class 5) (4yo+ 0-75) Jaminoz 12/1 1pt EW 4 Places
JAMINOZ was given too much to do in rear here five days ago, but still shaped as if this mark of 62 is within range. Though he has a short turnaround to contend, he should be granted a strong pace and be able to
travel behind the leaders from stall four with conditions a favourable one. He’s seven pounds better off for a four length gap with My Little Queens when behind her over C&D last month where the race suited those on the front end, and it’s hard to envisage him not reaching the frame for the in-form Lucinda Russell, who had two winners here last earlier this week.
