Check out our ITV Racing Tips for Day 4 of Royal Ascot, which sees another seven race card take place in front of the terrestrial cameras. Our in-house tipster Steve Chambers previews all the action and has FOUR tips for Friday’s racing from the Berkshire racecourse…
3.05pm Royal Ascot – Commonwealth Cup
Kevin Ryan bagged victory in the Windsor Castle Stakes on day one of Royal Ascot and he can taste more success on day 4 with INISHERIN, who can prove to be a cut above his rivals in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup, which is one of the feature races of the day on Friday at 3:05pm. Attracting the leading three-year-old sprinters, Inisherin could prove to be the gem amongst them.
Sixth in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, the Shamardal colt relished the drop back to six furlongs when bounding to a three-and-three-quarter lengths victory in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock Park. This is a step up and the likes of Elite Status and Jasour are notable rivals, but Inisherin looks to have the raw pace needed to land this prize and can kick us off with a winner.
3.45pm Royal Ascot – Coronation Stakes
A Group 1-winning juvenile, Aidan O’Brien’s Opera Singer could only finish third in the Irish 1000 Guineas on her seasonal reappearance, so is looking to bounce back to winning ways in the Coronation Stakes at 3:45pm. She is entitled to be favourite for the contest, but she’s awfully short in a race full of exciting fillies and there could be some notable value elsewhere.
Donnacha O’Brien’s PORTA FORTUNA is another with a Group 1 win on her CV after she won the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket over six furlongs. She ran an absolute stormer to finish second in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and if she can replicate that run then she has to be respected. There’s no doubting she’s more speed than stamina, but if they go a quick gallop then she will certainly be prominent and looks to have a great chance of going close.

Matthew Sutcliffe’s Royal Ascot Value Punts – Day 4 Selections for the Royal Meeting
Friday is the fourth day of action at Royal Ascot. Though he paid for the week with his 80/1 winner on Tuesday, Matty Sutcliffe continues to seek more value with six more selections on day four of the meeting. Published: 12.53pm, Wednesday, 19th June (Prices correct at time of publishing) 2:30 Royal Ascot – Albany…
Wed 19 Jun 20245.05pm Royal Ascot – Sandringham Stakes
Ralph Beckett’s Indelible is a warm order for the hugely competitive Sandringham Stakes at 5:05pm after winning a novice stakes impressively at Doncaster last time out and she’s entitled to be a major challenger for glory here. But, with such a big field there has to be some value elsewhere and the Johnny Murtagh-trained ASIAN DAZE is the one to side with from an each-way perspective.
The three-year-old daughter of Frontiersman has been placed in six of her last seven starts and she was last seen chasing home the classy Everlasting in a Listed even at Navan. Murtagh is a man that has tasted Royal glory as a jockey and a trainer and Asian Daze looks to have a storming chance off 97 here.

5.40pm Royal Ascot – King Edward VII Stakes
Such was Aidan O’Brien’s confidence in City Of Troy winning the Derby at Epsom that he didn’t have to unleash some of his star middle-distance three-year-olds at that event, but one could line up in Friday’s King Edward VII Stakes. DIEGO VELAZQUEZ was hugely exciting as a two-year-old having won a Group 2 at Leopardstown, but he failed to fire in the Futurity Trophy at Doncaster.
The Frankel colt has struggled in both starts this season in France, but both of his French 2000 Guineas and French Derby runs came in soft going and it’s the quicker ground at Ascot that should see him blossom. A proven class act when the ground is quick, Diego Velazquez can cement his place as one of the stars of this year’s Classic crop with victory here.
