There’s a whopping £50,000 Jackpot up for grabs for the winner of the ITV7 on Wednesday afternoon, as day two of Glorious Goodwood takes centre stage again. The Group 1 Sussex Stakes is the feature race of the day, while there are some other trappy contests to dissect and we pick out our selections for all seven legs here.

Race 1 – 1:50pm Goodwood – Coral Daily Rewards Shaker Handicap
David Menuisier’s GOODWOOD ODYSSEY has been performing well in these sort of races this season and off a mark of 90 he looks capable of going very close in the opening Glorious Goodwood contest at 1:50pm. He seemed to enjoy the step up 1m 4f last time out at Newmarket and it’s a similar trip he lines up over on Wednesday and has to be considered. The likes of Subsequent and French Duke look lively adversaries, but Goodwood Odyssey has been knocking on the door and he looks capable of bagging victory here.
Race 2 – 2:05pm Redcar – Racing TV Free Trial British EBF Novice Stakes
Raphael Freire’s DIABLO ROJO is a fascinating newcomer in the 2:05pm at Redcar as he was an expensive purchase at 325,000gns as a yearling and he could potentially be a smart performer. A son of the classy Pinatubo, he does hold an entry in Redcar’s Two-Year-Old Trophy later in the year, so he’s obviously held in high regard and while the betting should show a decent indication he can land this prize.
Race 3 – 2:25pm Goodwood – Visit Qatar Oak Tree Stakes
John & Sean Quinn’s BREEGE put up a career best when winning the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom Downs on Derby day and the hugely consistent four-year-old daughter of Starspangledbanner can claim more Group success in the Oak Tree Stakes. Seventh in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot, where she was outclassed, she then ran a decent second at Chester last time out, and with this race lacking a real star then she could be the one. She will have to give weight away to all her rivals, with the likes of Jabaara and Kathmandu looking the biggest dangers, but Breege can shine on the big stage once again and win this event.

Race 4 – 2:40pm Redcar – Start Your Racing TV Free Trial Fillies’ Novice Stakes
A half-sister to the former Queen Mary Stakes and Lowther Stakes winner Best Terms, the William Haggas-trained newcomer COGNISANCE is another debutant that could sparkle at Redcar at 2:40pm. A 225,000gns foal out of Sea The Stars, she is one that could improve for a longer trip in the future, but this seven furlongs should be well within her grasp on her first run and she’s a fascinating runner.
Race 5 – 3:00pm Goodwood – Jaeger-Lecoultre Molecomb Stakes
Fifth in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot on his second start, Archie Watson’s AESTERIUS built on that effort with a fine performance to win the Listed Dragon Stakes at Sandown Park last time out. Now stepping back into Group company for the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood the son of Mehmas can notch up back-to-back wins. Much the best at Sandown, he showed a blistering turn of foot to land that prize and he can get the better of the likes of Celandine and Vingegaard here.
Race 6 – 3:15pm Redcar – Free Racing TV At racingtv.com/freetrial Handicap
A winner on debut at Lingfield, Ed Bethell’s SEE THAT STORM has failed to taste victory on his last two starts, but he can bounce back to winning ways in the 3:15pm at Redcar. He will make his handicap debut in this contest and a mark of 76 looks well within his capabilities and he’s the tentative selection in a trappy event.
Race 7 – 335pm Goodwood – Qatar Sussex Stakes
This year’s Sussex Stakes was dealt a big blow with the news Rosallion would miss the contest, but it’s left the door open for HENRY LONGFELLOW, who was beaten by Richard Hannon’s charge in the St James’s Palace Stakes and can make amends here. He will have a lively rival in the shape of Notable Speech, but the 2000 Guineas hero was disappointing at Ascot, so can’t be trusted, so it’s wise to stick to the Ballydoyle raider, who can hand Aidan O’Brien more success in this race.
