Kelso & Chepstow Racing Tips - GG Lucky 15 Tips for Thursday 2 April

Kelso & Chepstow Racing Tips - GG Lucky 15 Tips for Thursday 2 April

Four tracks host racing on Thursday across Great Britain and Ireland. There are loads of punting opportunities to make the Easter eggs taste extra sweet this upcoming weekend.

GG tipster Joe Napier has picked out our Lucky 15 best bets this Thursday. He has two selections apiece at both Kelso and Chepstow.

Kelso Racing Tips (Thursday 2 April)

Five of the six races at Kelso contain eight runners or more. We have two selections at the Scottish track, including one in the opener.

2.40 Kelso – Mr Mojo Risin (1pt win – 6/1)

Smoke Trail would be the form pick at his best, but his efforts the last twice have been insufficient. He will likely be a short price and Mr Mojo Risin might be a viable alternative. Donald McCain’s charge ran green in what proved to be a decent bumper at Catterick last term. There were still signs of that temperament when returning from 354 days off to be fifth at Wetherby in December. He was second not far from the finish before fading on the run in on soft ground. However, he may well behave and perform better on a quicker surface, which he gets here. With wind surgery since his last run and plenty more to offer, he could be good value.

4.15 Kelso – Atlantic Lad (1pt win – 13/2)

Another McCain horse in Atlantic Lad was almost certainly unlucky to bump into one at Sedgefield last time. He was conceding 7lb (a tone if taking the winning rider’s claim into account) that day to Dalston Lad, who has subsequently won a Grade 2 at Haydock. The selection attempted to take him on at what proved too strong a gallop. However, his third to Mydaddypaddy was very respectable before that at Carlisle, while his Bangor win in November has been readily franked since. Freshened up since Boxing Day, he can make light of a mark of 114.

Chepstow Racing Tips (Thursday 2 April)

A class 2 handicap chase presents a high class headline race on Thursday. Our tips come in that race and the contest directly afterwards.

3.32 Chepstow – Knight Of Allen (1pt win – 7/2)

Blow Your Wad arrives off the back of excellent runs at Newbury and Cheltenham. The drop in trip for him is a curious one, as he has performed like a 3m stayer of late. He is worth taking on back to 2m4f with Knight Of Allen. Jane Williams’ runner was pulled up after making a bad mistake and being hampered in the Ultima Handicap Chase. He was 4lb wrong then, but drops to a mark off which he was second two starts ago. That effort came behind Holloway Queen, who won again in the National Hunt Chase next time out. Knight Of Allen travelled well that day before getting bogged down in the heavy going. Dropped back to 2m4f, over which he won in December, he could still be treated to go well.

4.07 Chepstow – So You Know (1pt win – 7/2)

Both his trainers and jockey are enjoying fine spells, so So You Know can add to the feelgood factor. Kim Bailey & Mat Nicholls have already equalled last season’s tally from 42 fewer runners. Meanwhile, Tom Bellamy continues to ride the crest of a wave following his Cheltenham Festival success. Bellamy was in the saddle when the selection won at Huntingdon in November. He was no match for the winner at Market Rasen next time out, but his handicap debut last month was very respectable. He was second of 13 at Warwick when just unable to get by the winner. Up 4lb in the handicap, he could well progress upped half-a-mile in trip. He is a half-brother to the yard’s stalwart Does He Know, who was best at 3m.
