A top Saturday of racing is in store, with Graded and Group action under both codes. It is Kempton‘s meeting which is the feature, the Ladbrokes Trophy being the headline contest.
Andrew Mount’s tips include three best bets from Kempton alone. He also has two further top tips from Newcastle and Lingfield to follow on Saturday.
Kempton Racing Tips (Saturday 21 February 2026)
Kempton’s is the showcase meeting on Saturday. There are thee Grade 2s among the card and Andrew Mount targets two of those across his best bets.
1.10 Kempton – Grenadier Jed (1.5pt win – 6/1 Unibet, 11/2 generally)
Harry Kimber has a fine record when riding in handicaps for in-form Robert Walford, scoring on 45 of the 198 qualifiers (22.7% strike-rate) for a profit of £73.37 to a £1 level stake at SP. He’s on Grenadier Jed in this 2m5f Class 3 handicap hurdle, an eyecatcher at Chepstow last time where he fared best of those to come from off the pace when a 6-1 head second to all-the-way winner West To The Bridge. The six-year-old’s record in handicap company now reads 111F2 (3-5) and he’s a good trends-fit for this race. Runners who prepped in another Kempton handicap hurdle have done well in this race and Lanzarote fourth Fasol, whose record right-handed below Class 2 level stands at 2221211 (3-7), will be worth a saver (I’ll also be playing him in the forecast/Exacta with the Walford runner).
2.25 Kempton – Go West (1pt win – 100/30 Ladbrokes, Coral)
On speed figures there’s not a huge amount between the runners in the Grade 2 Pendil Novices’ Chase and Jax Junior looks short enough in the betting at around 8-11, especially given his record above Class 2 level of 3P4 (0-3). Paul Nicholls has a cracking record in this 2m4.5f contest, scoring with 13 of his 21 runners since 2007 (+£15.53 to a £1 level stake at SP) and his Go West clocked a good time when scoring at Musselburgh on his latest assignment. He bombed out here the time before but I suspect that was his first run following his wind fly jab and I’m prepared to forgive it.
3.00 Kempton – Onlyforfrankie (1pt win – 10/1 Ladbrokes, Coral)
Onlyforfrankie was backed from 20-1 into 9-1 when upsetting 1-3 favourite Mossy Fen Road by at Musselburgh last time, scoring comfortably by just over four lengths and recording a good speed figure in the process. The market has underrated that performance, and he looks a value bet. He was too green to do himself justice when a 10-1 third at Hereford on his hurdles debut in December where patient tactics left him at a disadvantage and he followed that with a 17-length romp at Taunton. Sharp right-handed tracks clearly suit.
Newcastle Racing Tips (Saturday 21 February 2026)
Newcastle’s card is centred around the Eider Chase, but Andrew’s top tip at the northern card runs in the last.
4.33 Newcastle – Supreme Shot (1pt win – 7/1 bet365)
Supreme Shot ran better than his 29-length 66-1 sixth of 11 suggested hen making his hurdles debut in maiden company at Southwell in mid-November, as he raced in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail on his first start for 205 days. Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero’s five-year-old built on that with an 80-1 seventh of 15 in a 2m novices’ hurdle at Ludlow the following month and has been given a handicap mark of 100 after last month’s 66-1 sixth of 13 at Catterick where he again shaped with promise. The switch to handicap company is likely to bring about significant improvement.
Lingfield Racing Tips (Saturday 21 February 2026)
Lingfield host seven races on a high quality all-weather card on Saturday. Once again, Andrew waits until the final race for his best bet on the card.
5.00 Lingfield – Mister Moet (0.5pt e/w – 14/1 bet365)
Mister Moet doesn’t look entirely straightforward, but he’s had excuses since his course and distance second last month and is 4lb lower this time around. Scott Dixon’s three-year-old did too much too soon in a race set up for the closers at Wolverhampton next time and made the running on the ‘dead’ rail when fourth under Mikkel Mortensen here last time. Stable jockey Kieran O’Neill is back on board today and, hopefully, he will sit on the outside of likely leader Roseimedarling (stall 1) rather than try to make it.
