17:12 – Set Your Limits With Unibet Restricted Novice Stakes (For horses In Bands C And D) (GBB Race)

Race Details: 6f | Class 4 | Going: Standard to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a fair restricted novice rather than a deep one, and the two with actual form on the board set the standard. Anna Belardo shaped with plenty of promise when third first time up and brings the best published rating into the race, while O’Gorman has the benefit of experience too after finishing second on debut. Behind them, it becomes a guessing game involving a clutch of expensive-looking or well-connected newcomers such as Ongombo, Location Location and Forest Berry. Kempton’s 6f on standard to slow can expose greenness, so professionalism counts for plenty in these juvenile contests. With that in mind, this doesn’t scream a race to get overly clever in, but there should still be a bit of each-way value away from the obvious pair.

Top Selections

1. Anna Belardo – 9/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Rossa Ryan | Trainer: Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole | Form: 3 | Rating: 74 | Topspeed:

Anna Belardo is the one I want on side. A debut third in one of these early-season juvenile events is often a solid starting point, and the fact she already has a mark of 74 tells you the run was no throwaway effort. She also gets in here with a slight pull at the weights against the colts who have shown form, and Rossa Ryan around Kempton is never a negative. In a race packed with unknown quantities, siding with the filly who has already shown she can cope with race conditions makes plenty of sense. At 9/2, she looks the percentage call. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Forest Berry – 9/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Dylan Hogan | Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott Bt | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:

For an each-way angle, Forest Berry is the one that appeals most. Prescott isn’t a trainer to ignore when introducing one, especially in a race where only a couple have achieved anything of substance on the track. The market has him in the second wave rather than among the complete outsiders, and that usually tells its own story with this yard. Drawn low in 2, he should have every chance to get a handy early position if sharp enough, and in a race full of debutants that can be a big help. At around 9/1, he looks the value each-way punt. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Keep it straightforward: Anna Belardo is the win play after a promising debut and sets the clearest standard on what we know. Forest Berry makes more appeal than most of the unraced brigade as the each-way option at a fair enough price. O’Gorman is the obvious danger after his debut second, while Ongombo and Location Location are the newcomers worth noting if the market speaks strongly.

17:45 – Unibet Supports Safer Gambling Handicap

Race Details: 7f | Class 6 | Going: Standard to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

For a Class 6 3yo handicap, this is a surprisingly interesting little puzzle despite Wild Thoughts looming over it at the head of the market. He arrives seeking the hat-trick after back-to-back wins and is clearly the one they all have to beat, but he is giving weight away all round in a 14-runner field and there are a few lurking with more value. Slack Bob has been knocking on the door and looks well drawn to get involved again, while Sup Of Red has the inside stall and recent placed form that reads well enough for this level. Hello Humphrey is another with solid claims if progressing from two to three, so while the favourite is obvious, this is not a race to treat as a formality.

Top Selections

1. Wild Thoughts – 6/5 with Betfair

Jockey: Saffie Osborne | Trainer: Richard Spencer | Form: 096-11 | Rating: 75 | Topspeed: 57

He is short enough, but there is no point pretending he does not set the standard. Those last two wins have changed the complexion of his profile completely, and he now looks a progressive sort rather than an ordinary nursery type. An opening mark of 75 asks another question, especially under top weight in a busy 7f handicap, but this still does not look a deep race and stall 6 is perfectly workable around here. Saffie Osborne can keep things uncomplicated, and if Wild Thoughts is still on the up, 6/5 may simply be the right price rather than a skinny one. He is hard to oppose. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Slack Bob – 7/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Rossa Ryan | Trainer: Ed Dunlop | Form: 954-32 | Rating: 73 | Topspeed: 56

If you want to take on the favourite from an each-way angle, Slack Bob makes plenty of appeal. He has shaped as though his turn is near on both runs this season, finishing third and then second, and there was no disgrace in the latest effort from a mark only 2lb lower than this. Rossa Ryan is a notable booking in this grade and draw 5 should allow him to sit handy without wasting ground. He does not have the sexy profile of Wild Thoughts, but he is reliable, fit and already operating at the right level. At 7/1 with four places on offer, he looks the percentage each-way punt.

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Wild Thoughts is the straight win play because he is the one arriving with momentum and the strongest recent form in the race. For a bit more value, Slack Bob is the each-way option at 7/1, with his current consistency making him very solid for the frame. The main dangers are Sup Of Red from stall 1 and the unexposed Hello Humphrey, who would not need much improvement to get involved.

18:15 – Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Novice Stakes (GBB Race)

Race Details: 7f | Class 4 | Going: Standard to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a useful novice rather than a run-of-the-mill Kempton maiden, with a couple of obvious winners coming back and several well-bred newcomers adding spice. Ray Mon Dough sets the standard on the figures after a smart debut success and his rating of 94 makes him the one they all have to pass, while Tales Of Wisdom brings similar raw ability and comes from the Charlie Appleby yard, so there is no mystery about the respect he commands. Golden Conqueror and Langstone are both open to more after getting off the mark, and Trelissick is the interesting debutant in the lower half of the weights. It is not impossible to solve, but with 14 runners and a few unexposed types, this is no penalty kick.

Top Selections

1. Ray Mon Dough – 7/4 with Bet365

Jockey: Hector Crouch | Trainer: Oliver Cole | Form: 1- | Rating: 94 | Topspeed: 83

He is the percentage call. That debut win was backed up by the strongest set of numbers in the field, with a 94 rating and 83 Topspeed giving him a clear edge on what we have already seen. In a novice full of potential, I would rather side with the horse who has already shown he can deliver a proper performance under pressure. Hector Crouch is a cool operator in these races and stall 6 is perfectly workable over this trip. At 7/4 he is not being missed, but he still looks the most solid option if reproducing that opening effort after the break. Bet: WIN

2. Trelissick – 9/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Oisin Murphy | Trainer: Andrew Balding | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:

If you want to play against the obvious pair at a fairer price, Trelissick is the one that catches the eye. He gets in with just 125, has Oisin Murphy booked and comes from a yard more than capable of readying one first time in a race of this nature. The market has him shorter in places than the standout 9/1, which suggests he is not just making up the numbers. From draw 3 he should get a smooth introduction, and in a race where several exposed enough types may struggle to bridge the gap, he appeals as the each-way value play with upside. Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Ray Mon Dough is the win bet because he brings the best established form and the strongest figures into the race. Trelissick is the each-way punt at 9/1, chiefly because he has the right connections and could easily prove better than the bare paper. The obvious dangers are Tales Of Wisdom, who could be very good, and Golden Conqueror, who is another open improver.

18:45 – Bet £20 Get £20 With Unibet Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (GBB Race)

Race Details: 1m | Class 4 | Going: Standard to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a fairly interesting maiden rather than a deep one, with the market understandably gravitating towards the powerful yards. Royal Fanfare sets the standard on paper simply because she represents the Gosdens and makes her debut in a race lacking much established form, while Star Baby, Zarique and Lightning Glory are other unexposed types who could easily be better than what we have seen from the exposed runners. Of those with form in the book, Merry and Sharp Romance have shown enough to be competitive, and Premier Cru is not out of it either. The puzzle is whether to trust the obvious newcomer or side with a filly who has already proved she can handle race conditions. In a race full of guesswork, that angle appeals.

Top Selections

1. Merry – 7/1 with Paddy Power

Jockey: Rossa Ryan | Trainer: James Horton | Form: 3-4 | Rating: 72 | Topspeed: 49

Merry brings the most persuasive racecourse evidence to the table. She showed promise when third on debut and then ran perfectly respectably again when fourth, posting the best official mark in the field at 72 and a Topspeed of 49 that gives her solid substance in a maiden like this. James Horton knows how to place one and Rossa Ryan is the kind of rider you want in a tactical Kempton mile. At around 7/1, she looks overpriced against once-raced and unraced fillies who still have plenty to prove under the lights. She has the profile of one who can sit handy and make her experience count. Bet type tag: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Sharp Romance – 15/2 with Paddy Power

Jockey: Sean Levey | Trainer: Philip McBride | Form: 4 | Rating: 61 | Topspeed:

Sharp Romance makes plenty of each-way appeal after a perfectly sound debut fourth. That run suggested there is a bit to work with, and in this field you do not need to be a superstar to hit the frame if you step forward second time out. Sean Levey is a positive booking and Philip McBride’s filly has already shown she can cope with the basics of race pressure, which is more than can be said for several of these. The favourite could simply be useful, but at 15/2 Sharp Romance looks the percentage play for punters wanting a sensible each-way punt in a 12-runner maiden with three places on offer. Bet type tag: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Merry is the win play because she has the strongest proven form and looks a touch big in the market. Sharp Romance is the each-way alternative, with enough debut promise to think she can improve into the places at least. The obvious danger is Royal Fanfare, who could easily be smart on debut, while Star Baby is another newcomer to keep firmly onside.

19:15 – Get Best Odds Guaranteed At Unibet Handicap

Race Details: 1m | Class 5 | Going: Standard to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

This is a competitive little mile handicap rather than a deep one, and there are several with something to recommend them without any looking bombproof. Berry Clever and Sea Founder head the market for good reason: the former shaped well on his return and is nicely berthed in stall 1, while the latter has been running to a solid level in slightly better races and brings the strongest topspeed figure among the obvious contenders. I Am Me arrives on the back of a win and still looks on the upgrade, while Billy Mill is the old boy of the field but has dropped to a handy mark and has plenty of supporters. Draw, pace and who gets the smoothest run round Kempton are likely to decide it, which makes this a tricky enough puzzle.

Top Selections

1. Berry Clever – 3/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Marco Ghiani | Trainer: Chris Dwyer | Form: 9461-3 | Rating: 86 | Topspeed: 66

Berry Clever makes plenty of appeal here. He signed off last year with a win and returned with a perfectly respectable third, which suggested he was ready to go on again rather than needing the outing badly. Stall 1 is a help around Kempton if Ghiani can hold a position, and this mark of 86 still looks workable for a 5yo who has been holding his form well in handicaps. He is not wildly ahead of the assessor, but he looks reliable, straightforward and likely to get the run of the race. At 3/1 he is no giveaway, though he is still the one with the fewest questions to answer.

Bet: WIN

2. Billy Mill – 10/1 with Paddy Power

Jockey: Lewis Edmunds | Trainer: Rod Millman | Form: 188663 | Rating: 85 | Topspeed: 80

Billy Mill is the each-way angle at the prices. He is an 8yo now, so nobody is pretending there is untapped improvement lurking, but his latest third was one of his better efforts for a while and his topspeed figure of 80 is the best on offer in this field. He is also drawn low in 3, which should give Lewis Edmunds options, and a racing weight of 128 keeps things manageable. In a race full of 4yo improvers, he is the hardened handicapper who could easily outrun his odds if the younger legs fluff their lines. Available at 10/1, he looks a solid each-way punt in a race paying three places.

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Berry Clever is the win play because he has the right profile for this track and should be able to build on a sound reappearance. Billy Mill is the each-way option at the bigger price, with his draw and proven speed figures giving him a real chance of hitting the frame. Sea Founder and I Am Me are the main dangers if either gets a clean trip.

19:45 – Try Unibet’s New Smartview Racecards Fillies’ Handicap

Race Details: 6f | Class 5 | Going: Standard to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

This is a small but quite interesting 3yo fillies’ handicap, and it revolves around whether the more exposed pair at the head of the market can fend off a couple with upside. Space Bear arrives on the back of a deserved win and sets the standard on recent figures, while Tenzi is another progressive type after getting off the mark last time. Leonie has yet to win but her three runs suggest there should be better to come now handicapping, and she gets a handy low draw with Oisin Murphy booked. Perfect Location has bits of form that give her a squeak too, but this doesn’t look a deep Class 5 and improvement rather than bare achievement may decide it. Tricky enough in a six-runner race, but not impossible to unpick.

Top Selections

1. Leonie – 3/1 with Paddy Power

Jockey: Oisin Murphy | Trainer: Andrew Balding | Form: 433 | Rating: 73 | Topspeed: 36

Leonie is the one I want onside because she looks the filly most likely to improve now switched into handicap company. Three runs, three respectable efforts, and the form figures of 433 suggest she has been learning her job without being knocked about. An opening mark of 73 looks fair rather than harsh, and the booking of Oisin Murphy only adds to the appeal in a tactical little field from stall 1. She lacks the finished article vibe of Space Bear, but at 3/1 she makes plenty of appeal as the runner with untapped potential and could easily take a step forward over this 6f. Bet type: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Perfect Location – 17/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Sean Levey | Trainer: Tom Ward | Form: 5102-6 | Rating: 73 | Topspeed: 62

For an each-way angle in a race with only two places, Perfect Location is the one at the prices. She has at least shown a bit more on the clock than some of these, with a topspeed of 62, and that second from last season reads well enough in the context of this ordinary contest. Her reappearance sixth does need forgiving, but Tom Ward’s filly is not badly treated off 73 and Sean Levey is a positive booking for a race where track position will matter. At 17/2, she looks a fair bit bigger than her chance if bouncing back from that latest run. Bet type: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Leonie is the win play here, chiefly because she looks the most likely improver in a race lacking depth. Perfect Location is the each-way punt at a workable price with two places on offer. Space Bear is the obvious danger after a last-time-out win and Tenzi has solid claims too, but neither looks massively overpriced in a race that could yet be decided by a filly taking a chunk of progress.

20:15 – Try Unibet’s Superboosts Handicap

Race Details: 1m 3f | Class 6 | Going: Standard to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a fairly ordinary three-year-old handicap to close the card, but it is not short of angles. With Caraway and Private Project both non-runners, the market rightly focuses on Cospicua and Saxophonic, who arrive with the most convincing recent efforts and the sort of profiles that still leave room for improvement. Blackisthenewblack is interesting on stable and jockey alone, while Make It Up suddenly looks better treated than his mark after a much improved comeback. A few of the others, notably Rajbello and Goldfinder, have bits of form that make them competitive at this level, but this does not look a deep Class 6 and a touch of progress will probably settle it. In truth, it feels more about who can build on their latest run than a battle-hardened handicap form race.

Top Selections

1. Cospicua – 3/1 with Betfair

Jockey: Lewis Edmunds | Trainer: James Tate | Form: 0-7151 | Rating: 70 | Topspeed: 50

He comes here on the back of two wins from his last three starts and, unlike plenty in this line-up, arrives with proper momentum. That latest success suggests he is learning the job now handicapping, and an opening mark of 70 does not look harsh in a race where several rivals are still trying to prove they stay this far or simply find off the bridle. James Tate’s runners in this sort of low-grade all-weather handicap are always worth a second look, and Cospicua has already shown a willingness to get on with it. At 3/1 he is no giveaway, but he is the one with the most solid claims and is hard to oppose.

Bet: WIN

2. Make It Up – 7/1 with Betfair

Jockey: Harry Davies | Trainer: William Knight | Form: 090-3 | Rating: 65 | Topspeed: 60

He is the value play. The bare form figures do not scream consistency, but that latest third was a big step forward after three quiet juvenile runs and, crucially, his topspeed figure of 60 is the best in the field. From just 117lb he gets in very lightly here, and this extra emphasis on stamina around Kempton could suit a horse who looked as though he was finally beginning to understand what was required. Harry Davies is a positive booking and William Knight does well enough with these unexposed types once they get into handicaps. Available at 7/1, he makes plenty of appeal as an each-way punt in a race lacking depth.

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Cospicua is the straightforward win bet because he brings the strongest recent profile and looks the most reliable improver in the field. For an each-way alternative, Make It Up makes more appeal than the obvious ones at the prices, especially off a feather weight. Saxophonic is the obvious danger after his latest third, while Blackisthenewblack could easily leave his reappearance behind.
