Friday’s feature race at Glorious Goodwood is the Group 2 King George Stakes, which is a rapid 5f contest and the 2025 renewal has attracted a top notch field of sprinters for it. Australian starlet Asfoora is a hot favourite for the prize, but our tipster Steve Chambers takes on the star from Down Under with a value play from Karl Burke’s yard…

Favourites
Henry Dwyer’s Asfoora stormed into the British limelight when romping to victory in the 2024 King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot and a repeat of that Group 1 success will see her very hard to beat in this Group 2 contest. However, she’s failed to get her head in front on UK shores since that win, and could only finish fifth when trying to retain her crown at the Royal meeting in June. She is a red-hot favourite to land this prize, now dropped in grade, and if she fires on all cylinders it’s hard to not see her winning, but she’s very short for a race awash with quality sprinters.
Mick Appleby’s Big Mojo was just unable to get past No Half Measures in the July Cup at Newmarket last time out, but the three-year-old heads to Goodwood in excellent form and he has shown he is certainly worth a look in top notch sprints. Sure to be let loose on the front end, he is a real model of consistency and is one of those spearheading the home challenge.
Time For Sandals was a shock 25/1 winner of the Commonwealth Cup and Harry Eustace’s three-year-old will be looking to show that wasn’t a flash in the pan and will now take on the older, more experienced horses here. Runner-up in the Palace House Stakes, Temple Stakes and Coral Charge, She’s Quality is desperately looking to go one better and she’s sure to play a notable role in proceedings here.

Outsiders
William Knight’s Frost At Dawn put up a career best when chasing home American Affair in the King Charles III Stakes at the Royal meeting, and the former Listed winner will be looking to continue her progression and claim this prize on Friday afternoon.
Karl Burke’s Night Raider will be sent to the front from the start and will be looking to build up an unassailable lead, as he looks to bounce back from unplaced efforts at Ascot and Newmarket. This speedy five furlong track could play to his strengths, as they will find it hard to reel him in off a quick pace, so will he be capable of building up a big enough lead?
Khaadem is a dual Group 1 winner at Royal Ascot over six furlongs and has always been a horse for the big occasion and has been supplemented for this race, while the likes of Kerdos, Town And Country and Jm Jungle add more depth to a race that looks an intriguing betting heat.

2025 King George Stakes Tips
Asfoora should be too good for these, if she’s at her best, but at short odds she’s worth taking on with NIGHT RAIDER, who is bound to try and set a fierce gallop and Karl Burke’s charge could well hold on. Likely to be a length clear going through halfway, he will be looking to maintain that lead and on this easy track he could well maintain that advantage over Asfoora, with She’s Quality bagging third spot.
