One of the feature races of the weekend is the Ladbrokes Trophy Handicap Chase at Kempton Park, which is off at 3.35pm. A race won by Katate Dori last season, that Sam Thomas-trained raider is back to try and retain his crown, however, he will have to beat 12 rivals in what looks a thrilling betting heat.
We take a look at all the latest odds for the 3m handicap chase, as well as looking at the racecard and key trends and stats to look out for. Our tipster Steve Chambers then picks out his 1-2-3 for the valuable prize.
2026 Ladbrokes Trophy Handicap Chase Runners
An emphatic 15-length winner over Hyland last season, Katate Dori has a much stiffer test on his hand this year. He will be 11lbs higher in the 2026 renewal, but does head into the race in decent form. The eight-year-old was sixth in the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury back in November, whilst he was a decent runner-up at Cheltenham last time out, so does set the standard.
Alan King’s The Doyen Chief heads to the race on the back of a course-and-distance win in January. Only 1lb higher, the Barbury Castle inmate is sure to be a lively contender. Placed in the Paddy Power Gold Cup, Hoe Joly Smoke was then fifth in the December Gold Cup. He’s shown a high level of form in these sort of races and is a key player for Dan Skelton.
Kdeux Saint Fray is still a novice, but has some excellent form over fences, so is a notable runner for Anthony Honeyball, as is the Christian Williams-trained Deep Cave, who failed to land a hat-trick last tiem out in the Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase at Doncaster.
Boombawn adds more depth to the Skelton challenge, but off top weight has it all to do, whilst the likes of Chance Another One, Rising Dust and Lookaway all add depth to the event.

Ladbrokes Trophy Handicap Chase Tips
A hugely competitive renewal that has to see last year’s winner Katate Dori go close. However, he could be vulnerable to an improver, with Kdeux Saint Fray catching the eye. A winner over two-and-a-half miles, he’s one that could relish the step up to three miles here. He’s still lightly-raced over fences, so a mark of 129 looks workable. Off a featherweight he can get the better of Katate Dori, with Hoe Joly Smoke in third.
