Leicester Racing Tips (Thursday 4 December 2025)

Seven National Hunt races take place at Leicester racecourse on Thursday, with Andrew’s sole selection running in the 1m 7f 201y handicap chase at 2.30pm.

2.30 Leicester – Stroll On By (1pt win – 11/4 bet365)

Early pace is the key ingredient when it comes to handicap chases at Leicester, especially over this 2m trip Since the beginning of 2016, the track has staged 64 course and distance handicap chases and 23 were won by pacesetters, a 35.94% strike-rate (backing them all would have returned a profit of £45.00 to a £1 level stake at SP). Prominent racers weighed in with 26 wins from 154 runners (16.88%) for a loss of £53.75 (-34.9% on turnover), while hold-up horses were just nine from 97 (9.28%) for a loss of £42.88 (-44.2% on turnover). It looks likely that Stroll On By will make the running in this Class 4 contest and Charlie Longsdon’s eight-year-old will appreciate the small field and easy fences after falling at the first at Ludlow last time. When racing right-handed his record stands at 2342513121F (3-11), including chase figures of 1312F (2-5) for a profit of £5.50 to a £1 level stake at SP and he could be hard to peg back under Lilly Pinchin.

Market Rasen Racing Tips (Thursday 4 December 2025)

Six races over obstacles and a National Hunt Flat race make up Market Rasen’s seven-race card, with Andrew Mount’s tip lining up in the 2.50pm event.

2.50 Market Rasen – Caro Des Flos (1pt win – 33/1 bet365)

Caro Des Flos was weak in the market when reappearing after a 343-day absence in a 2m5.5f Class 5 handicap chase here three weeks ago and ran as though the race was desperately needed, dropping to the rear six out, losing touch and pulling up three out. Julian Smith’s veteran often goes well after a recent outing (between one and 25 days), landing five of his 22 such starts including three from six over fences at Market Rasen (two from two in the month of December). He’s a very speculative selection but could out-run his odds now that his reappearance outing is behind him.
