Leicester Racing Tips (Thursday 4 December)

Leicester host a seven-race card on Thursday, with Dan Skelton sending some promising runners to contest the maiden and novice hurdle events.

12.30 Leicester – My Own Lovely Lee (1pt win – 11/2)

The Twiston-Davies and Olly Murphy yards unleash separate point-to-point winners in this contest, but preference is for Philip Hobbs & Johnson White’s My Own Lovely Lee, who ran a race full of promise in what was likely a strong event at Chepstow in November. The winner that day had been a promising bumper horse last season while the second and third are well-regarded by Dan Skelton and Paul Nicholls respectively. The selection was only three lengths behind the third that day and was running on at the end, so the extra furlong here should suit, while his stamina also looked assured when third in his point back in February.

1.30 Leicester – Hold Up La Colmine (1pt win – 13/8)

A winner over fences at Windsor 11 days ago, Hold Up La Colmine kicked clear for an emphatic 25-length success that day. James Best takes over from 5lb claimer Callum Pritchard, so he is effectively a little higher in the handicap back over hurdles here, but he gets to race off the same mark he won off last week and that should prove a light burden for him. He is 2lb below his last winning rating over timber too and has the benefit of having been fit to race for over a year now, so can fulfil his latent promise from before a long-term break in March 2023.

Wincanton Tips (Thursday 4 December)

Seven contests also take place at Wincanton on Thursday, with the juvenile hurdle at 1.10pm likely to be informative for some useful races later in the season.

1.40 Wincanton – Limerick Lass (1pt win – 9/4)

Anthony Honeyball’s Limerick Lass contested an unusually strong bumper at Exeter on her debut back in January, with the five-year-old making amends to win in her second bumper at Chepstow in April. The third that day has since been runner-up on her hurdles bow, while the sixth is also a winner over timber already, but it is the form of her Exeter effort that looks so good, with the third already rated in the 120s and the winner runner-up in a Listed bumper that has also been franked. The selection is a half-sister to two multiple winners, including the very talented Allart of Nicky Henderson’s, so should make a presence over obstacles.

2.40 Wincanton – Kalif d’Airy (1pt win – 100/30)

Three of this seven-strong field come into this contest off the back of victories, one of those being Kalif d’Airy for Gary & Josh Moore. The son of Authorized was frustrating over hurdles last season, finishing runner-up on four occasions from Boxing Day onwards and has never got his head in front over the smaller obstacles. However, on his return at Lingfield and on his chase debut, he was an impressive winner over this 2m4f trip. Up 6lb for that convincing 5½-length  success, he may well prove a far superior animal over fences than hurdles and is respected in his bid to back up his Lingfield success.
