It’s a sensational day’s racing on Sunday 1 February across the UK & Ireland with quality jumping action at Leopardstown, Market Rasen and Musselburgh.
With a brace of winners yesterday our top tipster Andrew Mount picks out his best bets for the day here.
Leopardstown Racing Tips (Sunday 1 February 2026)
Having been cancelled yesterday Leopardstown will play host to the Dublin Racing Festival and Andrew’s solitary selection at the Irish venue runs in the 2.45pm event.
2.45 Leopardstown – Kinturk Kalanisi (1pt e/w – 7/1 generally with the firms paying six places)
Kinturk Kalanisi is a maiden over fences but that’s been a good pointer to recent winners of this 2m5.5f handicap chase. Backing maidens would have found six of the last ten winners (from just 24 bets) for a profit of £45.25 to a £1 level stake at SP, while the younger maiden chasers (aged eight or less) were six from 16 for a profit of £53.25. Thomas Gibney’s eight-year-old has some useful speed figures of heavy going and has finished in the first three in all nine completed starts since his Rules debut at Punchestown in December 2023. The cut back to this extended 2m5f trip will suit on the evidence of his latest 28-1 third of 28 here just after Christmas.
Market Rasen Racing Tips (Sunday 1 February 2026)
Some competitive action lights up Market Rasen on Sunday and it’s the 2.55pm that Andrew focuses on with an eye-catching 11/2 pick.
2.55 Market Rasen – Fortescue (1pt win – 11/2 generally)
Regular readers will be aware that I like to support Fortescue in small fields and his full chase record in fields of nine or fewer runners stands at 1211211321272225P36 (6-19) for a profit of £25.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those include figures on heavy going of 111212122P (5-10) for a profit of £30.50. The recent rain is in his favour and Sam Twiston-Davies has a good record in handicap chases at this venue when not riding for his father, scoring on 17 of his 60 mounts for a profit of £33.13.
Musselburgh Racing Tips (Sunday 1 February 2026)
It’s a big-priced selection in the 3.40pm at Musselburgh for Andrew Mount, who hopes a 22/1 shot can run a big race at massive odds.
3.40 Musselburgh – Red Risk (0.5pt e/w – 22/1 Ladbrokes Coral, 20/1 generally)
Red Risk is best when carrying big weights in handicap company and backing him at Class 2 or lower level, when one of the top three in the weights would have seen us land four of our 13 bets for profit of £43.83 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£72.62 at Betfair SP after 2% commission). When rested for more than five weeks his record under these conditions reads 1331131 (4-7), with the placed efforts at 20-1, 17-2 and 11-2. He was well held at Haydock on his reappearance ten weeks ago but that was in the very hot handicap hurdle won by Electric Mason, and he was ridden patiently when it paid to be on the front end.
