There’s a bit of everything during the racing on Saturday 28 February and our top tipster Andrew Mount heads to four different meetings for his best bets. Starting out at Lingfield Park on the all-weather, he then heads to Doncaster, Kelso & Newbury for his National Hunt tips.
Check out a bumper tipping column from our top tipster below.
Lingfield Racing Tips (Saturday 28 February 2026)
It’s a 1pm start for Lingfield Park’s all-weather fixture on Saturday and you don’t have to wait for long for Andrew’s best bet on the card, as he opts to side with a selection in the opener.
1.00 Lingfield – Charlie’s Choice (1pt win – 11/4 bet365)
Charlie’s Choice took his record in January/February to 1154161313451 (6-13) when scoring over the 1m5f trip here seven days ago and has only been raised 2lb, allowing him to run in another Class 5 contest. Best when coming from midfield or further back, his stall 2 draw will ensure that he gets plenty of cover before being pulled out into the middle of the track to challenge and there should be sufficient early pace despite the smallish field (eight run).
Doncaster Racing Tips (Saturday 28 February 2026)
Doncaster host their Grimthorpe Chase day on Town Moor, and it’s that race that sees Andrew pick out a former dual winner of the race to land the prize at 2.30pm.
2.30 Doncaster – Moroder (0.5pt e/w – 20/1 generally with the firms paying four places)
Moroder won this race at 18-1 in 2023 on his first visit to Town Moor and he made it two from two at the track when staging a repeat at 33-1 last year. He lost his 100% course record when a 28-1 third here on December 29th but this is his time of year – his record in the February to March period reads 13121101851 (6-11) for a profit of £60.75 at SP (+£96.58 at BSP after 2% commission) – and he’s worth a small each-way interest despite advancing years.
Kelso Racing Tips (Saturday 28 February 2026)
Kelso host a hugely competitive afternoon of racing with eight races taking place. Check out Andrew’s best bet in the 2.55pm race.
2.55 Kelso – Cracking Rhapsody (1pt win – 6/1 William Hill, Paddy Power, 11/2 generally)
Cracking Rhapsody has won the past two renewals of the Morebattle Hurdle and his full course record in handicap hurdles at today’s venue reads 21111 (4-5). In-form Ewan Whillans’ seven-year-old shaped well at Haydock last month on his return from a wind operation, finishing just over six lengths back in sixth place in a race not run to suit his come-from-behind style, and the likely stronger gallop in this 17-runner line-up will suit.
Newbury Racing Tips (Saturday 28 February 2026)
It’s Greatwood Gold Cup day at Newbury, where Andrew has two selections at the Berkshire track.
3.15 Newbury – Mister Coffey (0.5pt e/w – 7/1 Sky Bet, four places, & 0.5pt ‘to finish exactly 2nd’ – a day of the race market available with Sky Bet and Coral)
This 3m2f trip is at the outer limits of Mister Coffey’s stamina but form figures below Class 1 level of 1121322222322520 (3-16) suggest that he’s going to be on the premises. His only other run in veterans’ handicap chase company saw hm finish second at Cheltenham earlier this season and as well as backing him each-way I’ll be playing in the ‘to finish exactly 2nd’ market offered by Sky Bet and Coral.
3.45 Newbury – Blow Your Wad (1pt win – 13/2 generally)
Blow Your Wad has a good record on flat tracks, recording form figures of 2241191155 (4-10), as compared to figures on tracks with significant undulations of 262265373 (0-9). The eight-year-old was outclassed (ran off level weights but would have been getting 24lb from winner Jonbon in a handicap) in the Grade 1 Ascot Chase on his recent stable debut for Gary and Josh Moore but acquitted himself well, finished just over 15 lengths back in third. He won a handicap hurdle in March 2023 on his only previous course outing and holds solid claims.
